If you follow that link, you will notice that one is supposed to download the TWRP specific to devices on a page. Sadly, Gionee M5 Plus is not on the list. So, this is actually a dead end. It is one of the links I found earlier with google search.

I very much doubt it. These local companies (Gionee, Infinix, Tecno, Innjoo etc) treat their phones like appliances. You are lucky if you get a few bug fixes. Major update? Not likely to happen. By the way, I have phones with LP, MM and Nougat. I'm not sure the differences are anything major.

infinix is an acception amongst the phones u listed.
my note 2 came with lollipop out of the box, its now running on marshmallow. and hopefully, infinix will have android 7 upgrade. not all infinix phones though.

Well, I eventually rooted the device, but it was not easy.

I made a custom twrp recovery. However, the recovery was upside down and touch wasn't working. I don't know what I did wrong. I was however able to use a mouse (through an otg cable connected to the phone) to run the recovery and flash the latest supersu.

Hello Gionee phones users i need your advises i mistakenly cut my Gionee M3 Mini power switch on & off flex and the phone cannot be on again and i have tried all my best to get it repair even Gionee Service center but they told me i will have to pay N7,500 for new touch pad because it has crack before they can fix it and i don't have such amount of money so am thinking of doing automatic switch on for the phone
is it a good or bad idea from me
