for me I cannot wait! I know so many men seem to dread it but I love the idea of choosing a lovely dress and having all my bridesmaids, experiencing married life and having cute little kids.
Re: Ladies Are You Looking Forward To Getting Married? by Rosabelle(f): 7:34pm On Oct 24, 2009
Well well well. Married life isnt just about having 'cute little kids'. If its that one, then my nephews are enough for me. Cos all five are super cute.
But am I looking forward to it? Not at the moment. I guess for each woman it depends on where she is in life, and Im at that place where I want to travel the world .  . . .see Equador and Sao Paolo . . . . . . . . . . maybe even get to Australia  and New Zealand (ask me what Im doing there oh lol).
I wasnt able to have all these dreams in my last relationship cos he was hurrying me through school so we could go back to naija and get married. With the relationship over, that stress (and my horrible ex-to-be-inlaws . . . . . . .kai, The Lord saved me oh smiley) are no longer any part of my daily routine. Im soo happy
Im fine at the moment, so no, Im not looking forward to getting married . . . . anytime soon!

I used hate having to think of marriages because, of so many broken marriages. Until someone very dear to me, is soon going to get married this december. I feel so oppressed because, i will be lonely soon. He's my very close friend. Since his wife is going to take him away from him. I think i should start thinking of marriage. Or wat do you think?

I agree marriage is much more than a beautiful wedding with cute kids and a home. Its hard work. Im not sure about marrigae knowing how men are nowadays sad and people do seem to be enduring rather than enjoying their marriages.

I have the same problem. Fortunately, my friends are all happily married, so I also see mariages that work, but above all, it shows me one has to be ready to accomodate a lot of rubbish lol to be married. So its a whole package you have to be ready to commit to .The good and bad. And so sometimes, those bad marriages you see are caused for soo many other reasons apart from the people being irresponsible or bad. Sometimes the time just wasnt right and so the marriage collapses under pressure of expectations.

Marriage is a long term commitment and should never be rushed into.
Rush in without knowing the devil inside out and you had def zoom out like it never happened.

Marriage is between both parties so we have a right to poke our nose in the ladies affiars just like you have the right as well to do the same in the other direction.

We sure do have business with that because we got a stake in this marriage issue or are we going to marry someone who can't give us the number of children we so desire?

You can discuss it with your girlfriend and have a 'stake' in the side she takes, but not with perfect strangers. Its a very personal matter.
Theres nothing wrong with a woman deciding she would rather wait until 'menopause' before getting married, or not at all. These are highly personal issues and I find it disturbing to see how eager people are to talk one out of making personal dicisions.
Its my decision and my life and no one has any business or 'stake' in it.

Im sorry but this is why society is a mess instead of minding their own business they poke their nose in other peoples business. If a woman chooses to remain single until she finds the one, let her be. Look at the condition in Nigeria many girls are pressured in marriages they are not happy with.

I agree, women and even men should not be pressured into a something like marriage, and unfortunately our culture has a lot to answer for when it comes to this. Our parents feel that its just a case of finding someone and sticking with him/her like they did.
Since the two people are going to be the ones in the "firing line" i think they should be encouraged but never bullied or blackmailed into marriage,

Sorry if i my post sounds personal or directed to you but honestly it is just a general issue i am trying to address with that write up. I am not attacking you or poking my nose in your relationship, i was only trying to say we sure do have a say to tell the other parties this is are what we want from them before going into the marriage life.

Our african society is not comfortable with a single adult lady so you should understand the need for the pressure. Men are also pressured as well into marriages though not like the girls. I was actually refering to the menopause issue and related stuffs and not exactly the pressure.
