No state needs monthly FG pocket money. Every state is potentially rich, but as usual, ignorance is killing the masses, while a few are stealing the rest of us blind.
The answer for every state is resource control. Industries and human resources can be developed around the natural riches in every state, but will the thieves allow us?

You would think harnessing our resources was a no brainer, but the fact is that the vast majority of people do not even know that any minerals exist in their states.

Saying YES to resource control means you have to say YES to the following:
- YES to state police.
- YES to the abrogation of the Land Use Act.

Will those states hoping to develop their resources of the back of the ND pay some sort of compensation? It would be unjust not to do so. One way for other areas to develop would be for the various states to obtain loans from the ND or give shares to the ND (both possible only in a true federation).
The other things you mentioned are easily achievable in a true federal system. We are really shooting ourselves in the foot by sticking to the current rubbish arrangement.

Some juicy bits about tantalite for those who don't know. . .
Tantalite is the ore for tantalum and niobium. It finds uses in exotic alloys for engines and rocket engines, superconducting materials, superconducting magnets of MRI scanners, capacitors etc. Tantalum is also used as a platinum substitute.

In short, its a valuable mineral to have.

They are in commercial quantity, the list is from Abuja. The bad thing is that the list incomplete.
FG has real problems when it comes to maintaining records (guess why ).
For example, in my earlier post about tantalite, I mentioned the following as states bearing the resource; Bauchi, Ekiti, Kwara and Taraba have tantalite.
Well, you will find that Gombe, Nasarawa, Kogi and FCT also have the mineral, perhaps even in greater quantity. Why is our record keeping so poor (guess why )?

Most of these resources sited are not commercialy extractible. Rather they exist in minute quantity and in some cases scattered quantity. Hence making developing quarries for extracting such minerals in practicable.

Another thing you should understand is that most of these states like to "show off". If you take these data from a government site, there is high possibility that they are doctored.

You should also note that, while we recognise political boundries, nature doesn't. So some of the mineral resources in 2 or 3 neighbouring states are from the same basin. Example Bauchi, nasarawa and plateau state share the same boundry, and some of the minerals found in bauchi are found in plataeu. If you go to sites where they are extracted, you will notice that they spill between the 2 states.

I went to their site but couldn't get any information.

I am still sceptical about the commercial availability. Rather than listing the minerals, they should give us a rough estimate of proven reserves that will justify the commercial availability of the resources.

Onething I am certain, if such materials exists in commercial quantity, we do not have to look for investors, they will come on their own. Scientist and geologist have use sophisticated equipments to map out minerals deposits all over the world based on sedimentary rocks basin. If they can go to Congo, in the mid of civil war, Liberia, Seirra Leone, nothing can stop foreign investor from pitching their tent in the country.

I still doubt the commercial viability of some of the resources.
