I stand by the word “CHANGE“.

I was asked by a friend last semester “Why do you keep on speaking about this programming stuffs ,its kind of a boring thing ,I guess nothing will ever happen since we don’t do much labs or any programming Intensive courses for us to learn this things. I will not bother myself with learning much about it, one language is enough “, the moment he finished saying these things I felt like an arrow fired from a Chinese crossbow stuck me right in the heart, the pain was immeasurable but I managed to confront him, nothing good came out. But you know what, he is absolutely right because the friends he hangout with have same ideology and mindset(programming is not very important since we are taught nothing of it) .That is the reason I decided to write this article for I think it will help
most of my Com-Sci colleagues know the place of programming in computer science and learn it better.

Computer programming is the process of telling/instructing a computer mostly through a visual interface to do things you want it to do for you (e.g. creating a video game ,a mobile app ,a website, automating boring stuffs ,creating desktop apps, to name a few) whenever you want it and wherever. Programming is very important
in cs that almost no field in it is safe from its invasion from database, networking, software engineering, hardware systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning to name a few. Programming is definitely important, hundreds of universities, thousands of professors, scores of students, practitioners teaching, learning and practicing the discipline are enough testimony to the fact. Some of the more obvious reasons programming is important are:

○ To interact with machines and computers
○ To harness the power of computing in all human endeavor
○ To automate tasks
○ To create intelligent machines etc.

Programming makes you think differently, logically and also gives you sense to all the learning of a computer science student specifically. A computer scientist isn’t a computer scientist at all if he doesn’t know how program!. As a programmer when you see a problem in front of you, you develop a great solution to it with providing cutting edge algorithms and flowcharts with documentations along the way to solve it. While a programming language helps you translate your algorithms into something understandable by the computer to get your solution into some sort of reality.

It seems from my friends point of view that the intent is to get some experience with one specific technology and stop there ,Oh! hold on that is a failure of an approach. In computer science, the way that we investigate computation is with programming, we need to teach computation with exploration and investigation to ourselves which implies programming in a simple sense. What struck me about this article is that computer science is more than just programming but programming plays a major role in better understanding of the other parts. Even for students who will not go on to become professional programmers ,the field of computer science needs to teach those critical thinking skills that will serve students well in a new world where manipulation of information rather than physical building materials is the basis for the economy.

Everything requires computers and Smartphone’s which requires good programming to function as desired. We are somehow totally dependent on machines to do our works so therefore programming is a must to operate them. Knowing programming will allow you to understand what’s happening and either participate or contribute in some or other way. While on the other hand, not knowing programming will make you just sit in driver’s seat and go with the flow without allowing you to understand how its all working and just using applications/software’s made by others, but I guess none of us want that right?.

If you are related to IT Industry, your breathing is programming, your meals are the projects and your bonus is your software ,in fact programmers are the heart of all IT Industries. Overall you cannot survive in IT world without any programming or software skills because these are the prerequisites which every organization need these days. Most modern industries can’t survive without programming. In fact nothing is possible without programming in current generation. From the fan to your mobile, everything is built-in programmed. Even electrical and mechanical engineers after their raw workout will move to the final stage, which is coding/programming the tool. Only then you
can give life to that object. I imagine there is no programming, just a hypothetical and funny thinking. Satellites stop working, no TV, no Radio, no Mobile, oops no The Ultimate Whatsapp/Facebook/Instagram/Twitter, no Stock Exchange, no ATBU Website, no Airplanes etc. In Short NO PROGRAMMING = NO LIFE TO MODERN GENERATION.
the post i wrote is too long pls visit my blog for the remaining parts at mybrainoncs.
