The faction in People Democratic Party (PDP) is already reflecting in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo state. As the faction led by Senator Ali Modu sheriff described the emergence of Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim as Ondo State’s governorship candidate for the party as victory for the rule of law.

This is a big indication of a divided home that cannot even control its internal affairs, but wants to control the affairs of the larger population. Imagine it takes a court of law to decide the party candidate. Some people said the business mogul bribed INEC. Do you think a divided party can be the watch dog of the ruling party?

You will agree with me; any democratic political system that does not have an opposition party in place is doomed. Can we say the party per saying consists of individual how are undemocratic minded; that is to say, they are people that ventured into politics mainly for self-interest?
The faction of the PDP made the observation in a statement signed by its acting National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Bernard Mikko, on Thursday in Abuja.

The National Publicity Secretary also described the recognition of the candidature of Ibrahim by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as victory for Ondo people.
Does this give an opinion that PDP is having two Publicity Secretary? Is one faction more superior to the other? How long are we going to be having faction in PDP? If you will recall, at a time, there was a faction between OJB and Anthony Anenih over PDP Board of trustee chairmanship.
According to the faction “The INEC recognition of Jimoh Ibrahim is not only victory for the people of Ondo state, but also a victory for the rule of law and diminishing impunity in our electoral system.

Can we then say the billionaire who has been playing underground politics interest into governorship is a means to help the state achieve political and infrastructural development? Or is there any underground aim for the faction or the individual involved?
“The PDP NWC under the leadership of Sen Ali Modu Sheriff is pleased with this development anyway. It will be good to bring to your awareness that the people of Ondo state go to polls on November 26th.2016.

I also want to use this medium to let the people of Ondo state know that the final decision strongly depend on them, because the power relies on the people. If you in your comfort zone feel the government is bad, they are using recession to torment the masses, let the good people cure it by voting wisely and shun money politics.

NAN recalls that while Ibrahim name was submitted by Sheriff-led faction, Sen. Ahmed Makarfi-led faction also submitted to INEC the name of Mr Eyitayo Jegede as the party’s candidate.

In conclusion; can we say PDP cannot be the vibrant opposition party we expected? Is PDP a corrupt party as some people described it? A friend told me the recession the country is now is as a result of share the money politics of the political party.
Why can’t other parties go into coalition to form the formidable opposition party to checkmate the ruling party?
