Android just upped its own stakes. With over 328 million Android devices shipped worldwide, the operating system has long dominated the smartphone industry. But in the third quarter of 2016, Android managed to capture a record 88% of the global market, according to Strategy Analytics. Meanwhile, Apple’s iOS share slipped to 12.1% in the same period, from 13.6% the year prior.

Android’s success has a lot to do with the advantages of its approach. Unlike iOs—included only on Apple devices—Android has hundreds of partners releasing new phones every year. read on at http://etech9ja..com.ng/2016/11/android-just-hit-record-88-market-share.html

Android OS is the champion king. IOS is his queen. No controversy.

Windows phone OS, Blackberry OS and all the rest have lost the smartphone operating system battle.
Long live the king and queen.

Apple is lagging

No VR support
No Micro SD slot
No OTG support
You can't share files through wifi or bluetooth without jailbreak
No 3.5mm jack
Poor battery backup

Before, iPhone was known to have the best camera on a phone, but now that title is lost.

Google assistant, even at it's early stage is far better than siri which is already old. If by next year google releases it's assistant on android O for all its manufacturers, then iPhone is dead already.
If Apple doesn't want to improve, it will just end up like blackberry and Nokia.

The reason android will continue to have the edge over ios in the market, is simply because of the last statement you made..with the google android allowing other companies and third parties, i see no reason apple would be dominant im the market for the next 4 yrs or more,..for me, i thimk Apple are going the Nokia way (with its anna belle os), and thats ignorance and sturboness to listen to what customers crave for. If it wasnt for the fact that these guys(apple) are innovative and tech savvy inteligent with latest techs, they wouldve been lagging so far behind android...they should try to make the os public, and i belive that would generate alot of things during the long run.
Truth be told i would love the iphone for security and business, but i would just pick the android for freedom and fun.
