Hiring manager, let's save time; what's your budget? grin

Before attending an interview research about the salary the company you applied to ,pay for the position you applied for. This will give you a clue the amount you tell them. In the event, you could not get this, use your current salary to project how much you want to be paid.

If you are inexperienced, then you will have to rely on how much they are willing to pay that meet your basic needs.

In any case, don't under sell yourself by telling them very little amount , cause this indirectly show your worth and confidence level as well.

Guys is my birthday today and I am so happy. Is it possible to get a like from you? Thanks

Morning Nairalanders

So i got this interview with a waste management company coming up tomorrow and i'd really use help on how to go about answering the question "how much do you expect/how much should we pay you" whichever way it comes.

The Advert stated that the salary is attractive and negotiable, which obviously means I'll at least have a say in how much I'll be earning, but the problem is i don't wanna offer cheap labour nor do i want to give the impression that I'm one greedy job seeker (which i probably am cheesy)
Applied for the post of an Environmental Services Supervisor.
Thanks Guys
various answers like, I will go with company policy, pay me base on my productivity has been turned down at several points. as for me, I don't give any specific amount or a range, I usually give my own minimum acceptable salary. this is after I have put my expenses into consideration and made enquiries before the interview then I will go further to tell them that I will ensure that where the company happens to pay that amount, it will have no regret but rather be encouraged to pay more for my outstanding service.
so, if the company goes by my minimum acceptable salary and I later finds out that the company pays more that that, it will be easy for me to put in later demanding for salary increase as early as one month into the job but just be sure you can deliver on your job. remember, delivering on your job doesn't just mean doing well on what you are asked to do, it includes helping your boss meet up his own deadlines, acting like a manager by taking care of things around you as well as other staffs.

This was the same question they asked me when I went for Shell interview. For a starter a felt above 150k wasn't a bad idea and I said above 150k. When I was eventually given the job my startup and basic salary became 185k plus transport allowance and some other allowances.

just tell dem dat u biliv ders a salary structure for all employees in that company or organization, and you will wanna go with it cos that question could be a trap but if u are not satisfied or the question persists, u can now give ur own salary range.

Oga tell them you want 150k and above. If they cannot pay it, they 'll tell you how much they can afford. It's a simple question. Don't go and be forming smart using a question to answer a question. Go straight to the point so they know you are there for serious business. After all there are a lot health risk in the job and they already stated that salary is attractive and negotiate. In fact tell them 200k.

As a general rule of thumb, never sell yourself short.

However, you have to walk a fine line with that.

You don't want to undersell yourself and end up unsatisfied, or overvalue yourself and lose the opportunity.

All the best.

Hmmm that's a good one. He should now use his initiative.

My advice ,as a graduate stake value on yourself mention 120k and above ,remember they will surely negotiate it down,ur best bet is to mention the amount that after negotiation it will be good for you, and check if the company has a prospect accept the offer.

what if someone has HND can he say up to that amount?
Re: How Much Salary Do You Expect? by Kbul: 4:54pm On Nov 26, 2016
A safe reply would be something like this

" I believe in the commitment of this organisation to the welfare of it's staff. I have no doubt in my mind that the company would adequately reward the great efforts that I will put into my job performance.
As I strive daily to achieve my set Objectives on the job, I trust completely that the organisation will live up to its financial and welfare obligations to me.
I will put in the best effort and I want to leave it to the organisation to use it's discretion in rewarding my best efforts."
