Where did I blame Jonathan? You feel you have to be rude and insolent to make things interesting

Check out the Education profiles of the Energy Ministers
in
Brazil,
Japan
India,
France ,
Germany,
United Kingdom and
South Korea. NONE of the is an Engineer. In fact they do not have a science background.
In Russia he is an ECONOMIST

In fact the most common qualification seems to be a degree in Economics

Can someone please exlain what degree you need to become the next Dangote.??

Any University degree even in religious studies is good enough. Ultimately what is required to be a Minister is political and administrative experience. Ministers are not technocrats that is NOT their job
you have a point sir but don't be too quick to use that as a template for scoring these people.
Our ministers don't think and work like their western counterparts, therefore, the degree is needed to whip them in line. Atleast the degree will give them a strong conviction as it relates to their job.

Secondly, there is no strong civil society in Nigeria that keep these ministers on their mettle like their western counterparts.
Lastly, most of these ministers had failed, even in their areas of expertise not to talk of an alien environment.
Bros, we are just scared so understand....

Give the government time. We all know that no case has been successfully prosecuted yet. The judicial system is a mess and cases would stall if the defendants grease the palms of the right judges.

Jide Omokore was reputed to have returned some money, despite that, he was recently charged to court. So you see such monies are still untouchable for now.

The Buhari campaign made promises we all hoped could be achieved, but promises have to be fulfilled with funds.

We are broke as a nation, it is not Buhari's fault, but it is his responsibility to get us out.

You guys are sounding clever by half, how do u mean the government is broke after all the needless taxes imposed on us,were u in mars when energy tarrif was hiked, should that bring about some form of improvement in the energy sector, how about the funds from subsidy removal,65 naira vat on every 1k nko,how about recovered funds, with all this have u asked yourself how many megawatts has fashola and this new regime been able to produce, zilch,if u keep asking what did Jonathan do with the high price of crude, you should as well ask Buhari what he did with our resources in his first regime as well, that would be fair and constructive criticism.

They must perform a miracle or magic to satisfy your irrational expectation of overnight success.

Are u for real,he promises to fix the power situation in 6 months then let him fulfill his promise biko, was he high on cow dung when he made the statement, you don't want Fashola who promised to give us steady power in 6 months to perform magic but u want GEJ who didn't make such a promise perform magic ba,u are clever by half.

Give him an economy that earns oil revenue at $100+ per barrel which was what the government he was criticizing earned in 4/5years, then see if necessary infrastructure for generation, transmission and distribution cannot be actualised in 6months.

GEJ was a failure, Fashola spoke the truth, we kicked GEJ out for his failure so stop sulking like a baby.

A graduate of international relations in Japan and an economics graduate in the UK

Are we to believe these countries are short of engineers

Anyone is good enough in those countries because they obviously are sulf sufficient when it come to power, critical cases call for critical measures.

Tell me how many megawatts of electricity the GEJ regime added.

I know for a FACT that the OBJ regime celebrated 4000MW of electricity towards the end of 2006. I was surprised to see that the GEJ regime also celebrated the same 4000MW of electricity towards end of 2014.

It felt like a de javu. Who is deceiving who between the previous 4000MW and the GEJ version 2.0?

The current government has also announced that for the 1st time in the history of Nigeria, we have surpassed 5000MW installed capacity.

Let us see what they would attain in 4years even with crude oil selling below $50 per barrel.

One advice I would give to the Buhari regime is to make sure that the notorious and perennial power contractor, Sir Emeka Offor is made persona non grata as regards any future power contracts. He got loads of these contracts under OBJ, he also got same under GEJ, and we repeated 4000MW twice between 2006 and 2014, instead of moving forward.

Like I said you sound clever by half,if u want to find out how many megawatts Jonathan added to the nat grid, make google your buddy, let's do the calculation,if GEJ celebrated 4kMW at the end of his tenure, how come the present admin was able to achieve 5kMW without having added 1 kilowatt to the national grid,oh I forgot Buhari body language successfully added 1kMW,clap for yourself.

That is religion for us over here.
Africans generally and Nigerians in particular are slaves to religion....not all though.

Some even abandon their parents and love ones because they had a bad dream.
People now pray for God to show to them whom to marry, which trade to do, who to talk to and whom not to talk to etc the list is endless.

Not too long ago, a friend told me that he had a nightmare where someone was manipulating him. When he woke up in the morning, his aunt was the first person he met and she queried him about his night (out of love I guess). He therefore concluded that she is the one responsible, and even told here that he'll no longer eat her food.

With the type of religion practiced in Nigeria, everyone other than ourselves are suspects.
true talk, we are very religious yet backward and still harbor hatred and wickedness in our heartsand we go to churches and mosques to call on the God we believe in, it's such a shame

This doesn't change the fact that Fashola is a misfit as a power minister. The man thinks Nigeria is lagos where he can generate power in one street and transmit to another street for use. Large power plants takes much more time and money to build for a start. These plants Need dedicated pipeline network that span the length and breadth of this country for fuel supply. They also need a interconnected transmission system that covers long distances.

If that was what you said there would be no argument. i.e. "YOU BELIEVE" since you are entitled to believe whatever you like

A true understanding of the matter will comprehend that a Minister is a POLITICAL role. It does not require any specific academic background rather it requires political experience.
In Europe in most countries before you can become a minister you must be elected as a legislator. The academic background of politicians tends not to be in science and technology relatively speaking.

The Job of a Minister is to represent the wishes of the people. If I am building a house in Nigeria and sending money from the US for that purpose then I would send someone to the site to represent my interests. He does not have to have a building background but I must trust him/her. By the time we get to the 5th building he would know what the issues are

Dangote does not need a degree in business to run his empire. He can employ such people and tell them what to do and he has damn well done better than many with several degrees.

Commander in Chief does not have to have a military background to order war. He needs advisers

Obasanjo said something very interesting about Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.He said she does well when she is supervised. Giving her free rein turned out quite disastrously. So we must not overrate technocrats. They are like tools that can e used by a skillful operator but that does not mean they must be at the top or in charge
None of this is an endorsement of Fashola but he is qualified for the job based on having experience as a governor of Lagos.

Another Lawyer was in his shoes in the early 80s and built what is still our largest electricity plant

I don't accept that.
You have not given REASONS WHY it is the so called RIGHT STEP
Geography and terrain would determine whether it is reasonable. I have not checked but I doubt very much that a country as large as the USA and such like would have a connected grid. Power is lost as it travels so a connected grid over a large area would only waste power.

Other factors like terrain, climate and security would all conspire to make that unrealistic.

If you believe it is the RIGHT STEP please tell us WHY

One good reason why it is a superior choice to 4 or 6 separate grids

but you say he should contract "it" to qualified companies.

What exactly is "IT" and how much money is Fashola's budget for the last 12 months. Do you know How much money does he have for "IT"?

Fashola made some reckless statements like the 6 months thing and has to answer for that.

For me proper analysis is not about Fashola but having an understanding of what the problem is and what is a realistic measure of progress. In that regard Fashola failed from the beginning.H e should have made it clear what he met on ground what his budget is and what he will do with it in short a road map. He did not do this.
