A German-born international evangelist, Reinhard Bonnke, has adjudged Nigeria as the most blessed in the world.

Mr. Bonnke said his assertion was based on facts he has about the countries of the world.

He spoke to journalists in Ibadan on Tuesday after paying a courtesy call on the Oyo State Governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala, shortly after his arrival in the state capital.

He is billed to start a five-day open-air crusade in the city today.

Mr. Bonnke, however, said Nigerians are not enjoying the blessings in the country because the leaders are yet to find the appropriate way to distribute them equitably.

“If a system can be found for all to benefit, this could be the most prosperous country on the earth. I have a very high opinion of Nigeria. Wherever I go in the world when I am asked about Nigeria, some people come up with bad stories and I say I know Nigeria, and I must say in my whole life I have never seen a country in the whole world, that is more blessed than Nigeria. That is my personal testimony,” he said.

Though this is not his first time in Nigeria, Mr. Bonnke said his visit is special because it is specifically packaged to mark his 50 years as an evangelist.

Ibadan has been agog with activities advertising the five-day revival in the form of electronic jingles on radio and television stations, even prior to his arrival. Churches have also been mobilising their members to attend.

The bible says that if men refuse to worship God that He will raise up stones to do so.

If the Nigerians living outside Nigeria continues to bad mouth Nigeria, lie about Nigeria and insult Nigeria just to justify their present status or predicament then non Nigerians will speak up for Nigeria and tell the world the truth about Nigeria.

Even at that, the credibility and integrity of the foreigner cannot be compared to that of a Nigerian living outside Nigeria when issues concerning Nigeria are discussed.

Whatever diatribes our folks in the diaspora continue to heap on our country

is a minute fraction of the insults we heap on ourselves sitting on our backsides

and wringing our hands in the face of bad and inept leadership. I am not talking

about the insults from our leaders and politicians. And Nairaland cyberwarriors shocked angry angry angry angry angry angry

Why won't Bonnke say so? When he keeps making enough money holding crusades around Nigeria. Let us not delude ourselves? This man's business gets a huge turnover from Nigeria just like MTN.

Afam,

Those bringing the country into shame are nt Nigerians living outside Nigeria but our leaders thus, i cant comprehend your reasons for bashing or lashing Nigerians abroad.

Bonkke comes across to me as a good man. However, one cannot deny the fact that he has benefited so much from Nigeria/Nigerians to the extent that it will be reasonable if he choses to defend Nigeria with his last breath.

You have every right to blame anyone you want to blame.

It is not everything I can comprehend and in such cases I move on.

I cannot be bashing or lashing Nigerians abroad and be telling them to stop abusing Nigerians living in Nigeria at the same time so do you best to ensure that you are not accusing anyone falsely.

Bonke or whatever he is called is a blood sucker, sucking the blood of the weak.Nigeria is a gold mine of evangelist because of the gullibility of the people as a result of inherent ignorance.

Who doesn't know nigeria is naturally blessed but cursed in leadership and precedences?Absolute lack of role models.

Nigerians are already considered THE MOST religious poeple on the planet. If success depended on how much outer WORSHIPPING of God one did, then Nigeria ought to be the best country in the world.

Bonnke is not wrong. Nigeria is a blessed nation and has been for thousands of years. If one is blessed but never rises to apply that blessing, what good is it? We have everything we need RIGHT THERE to succeed. We have manpower, resources, skill set, you name it. The key is WHAT ARE WE DOING WITH IT? It is possible to be blessed but still choose EVIL for self. So, again, Nigerians what are we going to do with the blessing, that remains the question.

I have spent considerable number of years in Germany and have never heard of this man,
even before the fall of the Berlin wall and thereafter. I have never seen his poster

or heard of his crusade. It is none of my business if he is on a world tour, afterall Michael

Jackson and Madonna did that from time to time. Only he is not selling records. Maybe this

prophet is not acceptable in his home, as the saying goes.

I don't think Bonnke is even based on Germany. I suspect he shuttles between Australia, America and Nigeria.  He's been on the Nigerian scene since the 80's. I remember attending a Reinhard Bonnke crusade back in 1989/1990.

The simple example of how down hill nigeria is sliding is the case of football.Countries like egypt never use to be a match for our national teams but now we need tb joshau's prophecy to beat common mozambique.

What you sow in life is what you reap,if you sow laziness, you will reap the results of laziness and if you sow hard work, you will definitely reap the results of hard work.

He is talking about the tithes he collects from us.

We should lock people that decieve the weak in jail and and lose the key. Whether they make spurious claims to be "men of God" or babalawo's. cool

Africans are suckers for magic, miracles, and paranormal claims. Generally, among Africans, there is a deep-seated belief in supernatural forces that intervene and alter human destinies for good or ill. These spiritual forces are believed to work in magical and miraculous ways, through signs and wonders that confound the human mind. And the evangelical churches are capitalizing on this superstitious element in African thought and culture to peddle and propagate their paranormal services. They promise divine healing and instant solutions for problems and diseases.

We Care Ministries
"BONNKE`S miracle claims have been described as "blasphemous" by a leading Free Presbyterian cleric. The Rev David McIlveen accused the German evangelist of cruelly exploiting vulnerable people. "We believe in the possibility of healing through prayer," said Rev McIlveen. "But we also fully recognise the terrible danger of exploiting the subject of healing.

It was just yesterday we saw his poster again in Port Harcourt and am like this guy was here last year now; what did he forget that he is back again? Pastor, Prophet, Evangelist is now a vocation/occupation. If the offerings did not exceed the operational costs there is no way this guy will keep coming back.
