I am a professional builder and constantly read comments on nairaland but I think I could add some thoughts here...
Constructing a fence is no biggie...unless the land is swampy....and even at that stage, its something you can do for yourself

Do a DIY, and I can guide you how to go about it...directly here.

1. For Dry Land

I want to assume your land is 60x120 feet, and you only need 6x6 inches blocks for the construction.
Here's the Qty of Materials you need...
Convert 60 ft + 120 x 2 ft to Inches = 4320 Most Gates are 20 or 25 feet (convert this to inches), then minus = 3900 Inches
I am talking in the engineering language...buttom line is you need 3060 pieces of 6" Blocks for fence a one plot land. My calculation also included broken pieces

In Lay Man's Language, we will need"

1. 3060 pcs of 6x6 blocks = x 150 Naira = #459,000.

2. For a simple fence work, 100 blocks = 1 bag of cement x 3k plus, extra bags used for foundational work and concrete works that serves as reinforcement = 40 bags of cement (no idea of how much cement cost in your region)

3. For Iron rod I've always calculated quarter tonne of 12MM for fences.
Calcultion is: one tonne = 180k, quarter is 45k (dont forget transportation fees, binding wire, rings, welders fees, budget 70k)

4. Hey, lets not forget the woods that would be used for the framework, we need that too. Meaning, for every single pillars in the wall, you need 4 pcs of 2x4, and 4 pcs of 1x12, my detailed estimation, puts woods within #25,000

5. Sand (4 trucks 10 tonnes each), granite (1 truck 20 tonnes). Prices varies, but one truck of granite is #100,000 firm down here, and 4 trucks of sand makes #60,000 making it a complete total of #160,000

6. Finally, the gate which varies a lot. We have plain sheets, which wont last more than 10 years if superbly coated. And checkered plates which will last longer than your house if well coated. For some uninformed reasons, 90% of homes ive seen use plain sheet, and a gate of such value cost from #70,000 upwards, depending on the wrought iron designs on it. The best gate is checkered gate, and the cheapest with less design goes for around #150,000 (add an extra 15k for transportation).

And dont forget labours fees, we are projecting roughly 100k...Do the total maths...I've done this hundred times.
if you want to do this yourself, write me back here...I'd share details of how to go about it...

B: If the land is water-logged, get someone to supervise it...if he's saying trash, post it here...there are many engineers here who would advice you.

I just think fencing is so lay-man-ish.
Even lawyer, the mod of the site can teach you how to go about it.
Cheers

thanks a lot. i don't have the time as my job is so demanding. thanks for the breakdown- i will use it to scrutinize the eventual person.
the plot is rather irregular and is about three plots as a whole.
