Some folks would say moderation is key. However, studies have shown that drinking alcohol could affect the health of your baby. How? Did you know that the same am0ount of alcohol that gets into your bloodstream also finds its way7 into your breast milk? Oh yes, it does. And because your baby is small and has a relatively small and immature liver she can’t process alcohol as well as you can.

Findings from research have shown that alcohol can affect how well your baby eats or sleeps. One of the side effects is your baby not getting their much-needed rest. What I mean is, they sleep for a short time. obviously, that is not a good report to take to the doctor even for a grown person, how much more a baby.

Growth for babies whose mothers drank at least one glass of wine or beer daily is usually stunted. So depending on how much consumption of hard drinks, a child’s growth could be delayed.

Breastfeeding mothers are advised to try as much as possible to not drink at all, at least until their baby is 3 months old. At this stage, the baby would have developed to a point where the presence of alcohol in the breast milk won’t be as harmful as it would have been prior to that time. More preferable is to abstain from alcohol altogether to avoid any complications.

Stay healthy!
