I went to the fuel station this morning to buy fuel for my generator, since the transformer in my area decided to blow up 13 days to Christmas. i got a new very transparent and marked jerrycan just to even know ow truthful those fuel dispensers are. to my greatest amazement, the 20 litres the guy sold for me was on the 16ltr mark on my jerrycan. Where the hell has the remaining 4 litres evaporated to? Te fuel attendant was smiling and was bold enough to tell me tat ow will e eat this Christmas if they dont do these tins. Called the managers number on display and it rang on end without an answer. As i was there some little kid came to buy and they demanded a 50 naira from her before they sell. They didnt ask from me cos i came wit a car, so anyone who comes on a bike or walks down to te fuel station wit a jerrycan will be charged a fee, for wat now, i dont know. tese tins are a norm and no one seems to care to do anything about it. if at all there should be a 50 naira charge who should be levied, the guy wit the car or the person who is managing to get by.

Urban poverty always breeds a particular meanness in people. People feel like they have to behave in a dog eat dog manner in order to get a piece of the ever dwindling pie.

To be optimistic, wealth in Nigeria is rapidly increasing, despite the recession and the uneven distribution.
