Press Release: Maintain Status Quo, Improve Services, NANS Insists by akolo321: 5:16pm On Dec 17, 2016
The attention of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has been drawn to reportage that the Senate Committee on Communications have affirmed the decision taken by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to increase data price.

NANS under the amiable leadership of Comr. Aruna Kadiri, intensely kicked against the alluded decision by NCC with legislative consolidation from the Committee.

Recall that NCC in the month of November, 2016, proposed hike in data price which was suspended by the commission following furor that greeted the proposal.

However, confusion was generated as Senate committee on communications consolidated the decision during oversight visit to NCC headquarters in Abuja, on Tuesday December 13, 2016.

The unacceptable resolution from the Committee was perched on false imagination that NCC acted on national interest, even in spite of the current financial predicament having effect in pockets and purses of Nigeria citizens.

With the yet addressed recession bedeviling the country, crippling and running key sources of prevalence down, there is compulsory need for slash of data price to curtail the situation.

Therefore, NANS in its reaction, disagree with the decision in totality, calling on the parties that ganged up against suffering Nigerians to withdraw the proposal without further delays, or operation of telecom facilities in campuses across the country will be ceased indefinitely.

Maintain status quo, improve services, we insists. A word is enough for the wise! Don't Test Our Might!!!!
