Since independence, Nigeria has been ruled by a Northern ruler for an approximate total of 49 years and 3 months. The South (Yoruba) will have ruled Nigeria for 11 years and 11 months at the end of President Obasanjo’s second term. The Ibo’s have ruled Nigeria for approximately 2 years and 9 months.

No Southern minority group has ruled Nigeria but the Northern Minority have ruled Nigeria for approximately 18 years and 10 months.

Obasanjo at the end of his current term will be the longest ruler of Nigeria with a total of 11 years and 8 months, followed by Gowon who ruled for 9 years and 11 months and then Babangida who ruled for 8 years and 1 day.

If Obasanjo gets a third term he will have ruled Nigeria for 15 years or approximately one third of the time from Independence. If Babangida runs in 2007 and wins a four year term he will just become the longest serving ruler, surpassing Obasanjo’s by approximately one year.

OBJ at the end of his term and IBB, if he does not rule Nigeria again have ruled Nigeria for almost 40% of the time since Independence.

Resp: Thats really not the issue if he came by chance "God's work" or brought himslef there with a gun. It simply means that these gentlemen have had ample opportunity to rule Nigeria and so everyone can ask "so what do we have to show?" as we take steps to elect a new leader

He has done a good job. He employed Ngozi Okonji-Iyeala as Finance minister and got us billions of dollars in debt relief. He reaches out to foreign investors to let them know that Nigeria is safe for business. He has done well so far.

The debt which they stole.... money which we have not seen what they they were used for.

For constucting Lagos - Abeokuta Road... he deserves to become life president in Ogun State
On every other scale; He should be 'tried' for 'treason' 'cos he's worse than 'Maradona'-the 'evil genuis'.

If Nigeria were indeed safe for business...We'll be looking for ways of controlling the influx of investments. Even indigenous investments would surpass evey expectation. This guy is a failure and we must'nt use every means to sell ice to Eskimos.

Hi, Nice try. It met what i needed as a first point of check for all our past Nigerian Leaders.

All this was before the third term catastrophy.

Zik never ruled Nigeria, but Balewa going by then constitution. Zik was a ceremonial president without any portfolio. Balewa was the commander in Chief.

There was an Acting President called Late Nwafor Orizu in between Nnamid Azkiwe and Johnson Aguiyi Ironsi.he was the Senate President from November 16,1960 to January 15,1966 before he became Acting Presidentin 1966.He later hand over power to Aguiyi Ironsi.
