this is a different one, specially organised and thats why the conditions at initial stage was different

The loan condition is hash. The first thing BOI said is beneficiaries will submit their certificates without any land as collateral, later, it was 1 guarantor, later 2 guarantors, later guarantors must submit their net worth forms with assets (landed and co..) declared, and......Last time I checked, those are the exact criteria to access loans from BOI intervention funds. THERE"S NOTHING SPECIAL ABOUT YES-P AND NEVER SAY YOU ARE SUPPORTING BUSINESSES, AFTERALL ITS A LOAN NOT A GRANT

@ Mavoro a.k.a (Jethrol...)

I appreciate your efforts thus far on this BOI loan issue and I must commend you. As you have correctly said, why didn't they disclose the stringent loan conditions before they asked us to apply for the programme?

It's going to be sad and a step back from the promises of the government about encouraging entrepreneurship in Nigeria. The FG & BOI have failed thus far.

This Boi yes_p entrepreneurship program was a scam from the start... They never really meant to give the money to the youth.. After tendering my original result you still expect me to bring guarantor with the amount I want as loan, if I know such kind of person why will I come to Boi for the loan...
Youwin still remains the best... APC and their scam

Double scam sef. I suspect they wanted people to submit ideas they can steal for their children and cronies who will definitely meet the requirement.

metodz:
This loan criteria is really harsh, 2 guarantors with 5M net worth each, plus post secondary school certificate, plus landed property. This only shows that the security of the money superceeds the desire of BOI to empower youths to grow the economy.
You are not giving us complete cash as loan, you are using more than 50% to buy equipment, that alone leaves no room for squandering the money we have not talked about how much the suppliers of this equipment stands to gain and all this you want the "empowered" youth to still payback in full.
We understand that the security of the loan is important but the equipment are also assets that can be liquidated to fund the loan in case a business is struggling and can't survive. And you will agree with me that the business BOI scrutinize and approve cannot die from the get go, it must have paid back part of the loan before it will default if the business is not thriving, so whatever is left of the loan repayment can be salvaged without 2 guarantors of 5M net worth & tertiary school certificate & landed properties. Unless there is something more to the loan that we are yet to be told.
Its not rocket science is "just common sense" as my icon would say
Please BOI reconsider some of these terms and let's work together to move our great nation forward

Absolutely, in a recession and at a time things are tight, leaders must take the path of creativity for instance; I need 5 million, If my business plan is bankable, provide the minimum required amount say 1,000,000 to start then either disburse more funds as business hits traction or stop funding completely if certain milestones in the revenue projects cannot be reached. The certificate can comfortably cover that kind of arrangement. First the bank will play a supervisory and mentorship role either directly or through experience consultants which will make reduce the risk of failure, increase their experience and guide the entrepreneur gradually through his journey. Unlike the current system which assumes that having a guarantor will scare u into being careful with loan given...very laughable, indeed all businesses will succeed if it works like that.

We need to learn from what America and China are doing. May I add also that, using guarantors does not guaranty any thing.
can't funding be gradual and increased as business starts getting traction? and of caused st

We are not surprised. Buhari's govt is synonymous wit deceit

I don't quite agree with you, the BOI YES-P for all intents and purposes is a good scheme but like most laudable ideas, the promoters and managers are the ones not being creative about its implementation. And that portends a serious danger to our economy as creative ideas capable of employing thousands within weeks may at best be dead on arrival

What is the difference between BOI/ Federal govt. and the Ponzi scheme of MMM they brought down my all means through the power of social media. I will never forgive BOI and federal govt for deceiving me into subscribing into this deceitful programme that wasted my time and resources. God will not forgive you people.
grin grin grin, at least people like me can agree that there are more meaningful issues to discuss, bigger scams and fraud that our youths need to confront instead of squandering precious productive cyber time Summersaulting over MMM. Government of the day with all their insincerity, deceit and lies. We heared about feed the school children program and what happened to it?Recession. We heared alot about BOI YES program and its still recession that affects it. Then we were told that government cannot finance the budget of 2016 because of the effect of recession as a result of low oil output, then it makes me sick to my stomach to actualy believe that our so called leaders, and planners who have attained a reasonable level of exposure and education, can not plan a budget that is realistic, a budget that can see the light of day and improve the life of the masses. Its such a shame to APC, a party i actualy never criticised because i see a glimmer ray of hope in. Well its such a pity. Surprise enough is the fact that our budget can finance travel allowances of the same so called leaders, their huge feeding and relaxing allowances, and so many allowances that enable them to loot the resources that is not available. God/ Allah dey watch them, we remain steadfast in our course for a better Nigeria, and forever we will stand Tall. God/Allah bless the hustles and strugles of the minds and hearts that seek for a true and better Nigeria.

BUT many of you allowed yourselves to be deceived by political e-goons here on nairaland... NOW the you all are crying over spilt milk! too late...the grass is not always greener on the other side...that opportunity is gone for good!

Bro its not like that. For me, its about the kind of business I had wanted to do then which is different from what I want to venture into now. if such opportunity comes up again I will certainly be a beneficiary.

This is a very sad development, but we have the choice to effect change or lie down and allow our efforts to be wasted by those who don't care about the sacrifice we made to get to this stage. The senate last week or so proposed to scrap BOI & put in place a more SME friendly development finance institution (DFI). I couldn't agree more, or else how could a bank be so inconsistent? Alternating from one opinion to another. It is now up to us to allow them take us for a ride or reclaim what is rightfully ours. This level of deception can't go free on a national scale & least of all to educated graduates enterpreneurs who hold the destiny of the country. The saying goes, you can deceive some of the people some of the time, but not all of the time.
A hash tag #BOIYESPISUNFAIR has been created on twitter, all concerned can tweet & retweet their YES P experience to @Mbuhari @NGRPresident @NGRPresident @ngrsenate @akandeoj @mobilepunch @premiumtimesng & any other media agency to arouse d attention of the authorities. Thanks, remember, "together we stand, divided we fall".
I have decided to write an article to further publicize our plight. You can all contribute by at least retweeting the tweets to the authorities. Thank you.

nobody is asking for a loan without security. All we are saying is this: the initial security was for the awardees to give their NYSC certificates. I understand that time changes, and so do people and institutions, but asking for guarantors with 5m isnt fair, because majority of the participants are not even seeking for up to 5million, and they want them to bring guarantors that are worth 10million.

Remember the Jonathan YOUWIN programme, many that collected the money used it for something different from the business.
If you are genuine and real, you will look for those that around you that believe in you and they will stand as your guarantor.
5M is not 500M nor 50M, rather than complain on NL, go to work and get those that stand for you and get rich following your dream.

May I tell you, more than 90% of those that tell you they can't get guarantor may have gotten guarantors, don't be a loser.

Around which month of the year did you try to make your application? That will determine if its cohort 1 or 2.

You opted out because the program is discouraging. This is why we want Mr President to give us a good intervention program. We want him to support us so we can also support him.

Yes-p, one program set on a faulty ideals... I remember asking the boi lady during the in-house training, the credibility in asking budding entrepreneurs that they are supposedly providing assistance to, to provide 2 guarantors of average net worth of 10M? I asked her how exactly does that amount to helping us when obviously these conditions are not feasible, and in reality some peeps just needed less than 1M to kickstart?

expectedly, she simply ignored me, making the excuse that if i want to seat back and scrutinize the bank's well-thought-out model for the scheme, then she has no answer for me.

further attempts to get her attention was completely ignored.
rather than just passively lament our ordeal and shrug in helplessnes, we can all give credence and force to the campaign on twitter by adding our voices and twitting our experiences.

Six months after the commencement of the YES programme by BOI, not even a single person has benefited from the time invested to this initially promising scheme even after getting to the final stage (Plan Approval). NOT ONE!

The #YES programme has successfully wasted the precious times of young entrepreneurs who initially thought #BOI #YES_P would be their stepping stone to a greater future. BOI lied to these entrepreneurs, cajoled them to sign up for the programme, hid key terms of the loan and allowed these helpless youths to commit their time, resources energy, intellect for 60 solid days in online training from AMI ( A good exposure I must say) and a week in class training for which some participants had to travel long distances, feed themselves and pay for hotel accommodation. Imagine the stress nursing mothers and their babies had to go through for 6 days and probably more for some.

My major problem with BOI is this: why must you lie and lure thousands of youth to sign for the YES programme when you know that there are other terms and conditions you never disclosed initially to these youths until they have reached the final stage before telling them? Why? Is it because you knew if you told them early enough, many would not join the scheme because you also know only 1-2% of these entrepreneurs can meet such stringent conditions. BOI an organization I hold in high esteem has turned itself into a petty corporate liar.

To our great youth, whether you have started or not, there is one condition(A major condition) BOI never told you during the training but will inform you only when your plan is approved and I doubt many will meet such condition in time, if at all.

YOU MUST PRODUCE 2 GUARANTORS WORTH 5M (subject to loan amount requested) EACH AND THEY MUST BE READY TO SWEAR A NOTARISED AFFIDAVIT OF NET WORTH AND DROP THE RECEIPT(S) OF THEIR ASSET.

In the beginning, BOI only told us our POST SECONDARY CERTIFICATE is our security not this. But this is what they will tell you after your plan is approved. I have been there hence LISTEN!

Unfortunately for me, I can't meet such stringent conditions of N5m net worth of each guarantor. I was ready to drop my certificate but this I can not do, after much investment into this programme. I know many are like me, BOI deceived us into this programme but what can we do? How many young entrepreneurs can meet these conditions?

I strongly want to call on the Federal Government and all parties involved to ask BOI to revert to the original conditions with which this programme was advertised. We are sincere and excellent entrepreneurs to have made it this far and we are ready to contribute their quota in developing our economy that currently lies in a cesspool, but we need support, not one with impossible conditions as BOI YES programme is asking for.

To BOI, I thank you for time wasted, I strongly advise henceforth that you come out plain with the true conditions from day one and not cajol Nigerian youths into your failed YES programme filled with half truths. Have you asked yourself why not one person across the nation has benefited from this YES after 6 months? I will advise you maintain the certificate as security because it will be easily met by sincere youths than the 5m each (subject to loan sum requested), 2 guarantors, if truely the goal of your YES programme is to assist young entrepreneurs, contribute to the economy and take people out of poverty. Right now, You are not different from commercial banks, why do I need to waste my time with you if I have such guarantors in the first place. Only 1-2% out of 1200 from every batch will finally make that loan conditions defeating your aim of setting up such programme. So, please, think again on your conditions as many youth are already frustrated with your emergency post approval conditions.

To our youths, I must commend your courage, we have really endured this country despite the frustration everyday and everywhere. My encouragement to you all is to keep up fighting and look out for better deals and grants. For those who will fully meet the requirements, I congratulate you in advance and enjoin you to do your best to contribute your quota to our economy as required by the programme. We must not give up as entrepreneurs, if YES does not work out, there are other better programmes out there. For all your time and resources spent, take consolation in the AMI and in-class training which is truely rich and loaded. You must not give up in yourselves and in Nigeria, no matter the outcome of your YES application.

I have written all these to report what is going on that many are not yet privy to. This will help you prepare ahead and gather enough strength to carry on. This is also aimed at BOI to see the extent of damage that will be done to many of these great young entrepreneurs because of their initial lies.

BOI YES programme is actually a waste of my precious time and resources because I have invested my all into it with no funding to show after 6 months in the programme.

Shukuriya.

You expect a government that is running a budget deficit to dole you money for buisness with no serious strings attached?

You are complaining about the government, when will you start a campaign against pipeline bombing, to bereft your government of excuses like the CJTF is doing against boko haram?

When will you campaign against traders who have hiked prices for flimsy reasons?
