hi all. I was recently blessed with twin boys and had friends and relatives telling me things like 'with twins what u do for one u must do for the other, when one is ill and being treated, u must treat the other. when they fight u must not intervene but allow them to settle it out themselves, when they are of school age they must be put in the same class etc etc so i'd really like to know what the experience has been like for other mothers

You are very likely to have twins again if you take in within one year.

I was bless with same over 6 years ago and i must tell you ITS A LOT OF HARD WORK. If you are in Nigeria you got nothing to worry about since you have relatives and friends all around you. They dont necessarily fall sick at the same time its just ppl's assumption.

If you fancy seeing them in same outfit like me fine if not nothing to worry about except they request it and you want to be fair to them. Yeah, they fight a lot, they play a lot as well, you will get tired intervening in their fight leave them to satisfy themselves and one will eventually run to you for help.

Mine used to be in the same class but when they changed school the new school said they dont put twins in same class which i think is reasonable since they are together all the time at home they need to miss with others and make friends otherwise they'll feel they are fine as each other's friends.

Some could be quite demanding depends on how you bring them up, you need to teach them from babies to be independent like mine i taught them to hold their bottles on the mouths when babies their age were still being helped with it so they got used to it. I was alone with them apart from few ppl checking in once in blue moon, you know how it is abroad.

Apart from the hard work of attending to 2 kids at the same time no real issues per say esp when you are in the midst of your family and friends.
They are wonderful kids and when the trouble is over you will wish you have them again and again. C

Congratulations and all the best.

I guess this cover most of it but I'll add something very important for you.

While it's important to encourage love amongt them just like with your other children, it's very important to start early to keep them apart. Different classes will help, different schools might even be better. While this might be difficult for them as children, it'll keep them out of trouble and help them as adult.

I'm not a mother of twins but I am a twin myself. Idential.

We were together all though childhod, schools, classes, we even wore the same clothes. Makes it difficult for us to live different lifes as adults - which of course is inevitable. While I enjoyed growing up with my twin, I sometimes wish our lives were not so intwined.

It wont be easy. I know my mum passed through hell. Infact she developed a high blood pressure during our childhood - a disease she still suffers till now. But it's a unique blessing. One I pray for myself. So . . . CONGRATULATIONS.

You too Ayomifull! wink

I believe twins shouldn't be treated for what they are and not for how they look like.

I hate it when parents try to make twins look the same in everything.

You sabi correct. As if they are not two different people at the end of the day.

@OP congrats, twins runs in my family in every generation for the last 4, but it is a rule for us to let them be 'individuals'. wink
