Now the price of tomatoes no longer matters. However, exactly this time last year, tomato was one of the criteria used in condemning this same administration. Lest we forget, 4 pieces of tomatoes was selling for N500 according to some people. Now that a whole basket of tomatoes which rose up to N25,000 at some point last year is now selling for N1500, it doesn't matter again. Do we have to look for the definition of hypocrisy any longer?

When good things happen, "na their hero cause am". On the other hand, when the opposite happens, "na Buhari and those who voted for him must be axed". Sometimes I wonder how cruel can some people be.

Oga relax, Tomatoes is seasonal, let raining season begin then come and show me a basket of Tomatoes that will cost 1500, moreover tomatoes is not our prob b4, it was wen this administration came that we face the problem of tomatoes and which dey solve, so don't expect us to clapp for them..

aahhaaahhhhahh...Madam lecturer so tell m what leads to recession? is it food sales not part of the economic activity. if agriculture is finally taken care of, will it not affect some other aspects . my sister, I believe this development is gradual and we will get there

We are in a recession because of a bad exchange rate policy which has led to chronic dollar shortages which Sanusi Lamido has criticised relentlessly.

Agriculture won't get the economy out of the woods. The agricultural sector no matter how fast it grows is expected to shrink as a % of GDP every year. If it increases, it's symptomic of something wrong.

Anyone who travels to Dubai or Singapore and says the country needs to return to farming isn't serious

clearly you don't even know the meaning and difference between recession and inflation ,besides the consumer price index is made up of too many components to be significantly affected by the price of tomatoes alone, that is assuming what you said is even true nationwide.
Does it matter if it's recession or depletionor if one can get food at a cheaper rate.

You cannot satisfy a Wailer. Even if you bring free food to a Wailer, he'll say, "Why are you not putting it my mouth?"

I felt like stating how stupid this is then I realized you may be a ricetified somebody. Buhari is not the reason for cheapness of tomatoes but lack of storage Felicity. The price will go up during next planting season. Na your type go buy dollar 4hundred naira come still dey praise Buhari

This might not have totally ended recession but it is a right step in the right direction. I believe that if Agriculture is conquered that an average Nigerian could feed atleast 3 square meal a day, recession will become a thing of the past.

Happy New Year
God bless Nigeria

This is the season of tomatoes and carrots. It's just like saying mango has become cheap, during mango season.

Nothing new. Enjoy your tomatoes anyways

Happy new year to all Nigerians

I have that at home. so I need not bother

You made a statement that was perfectly fair and which showed that Nigerian farmers are rising to the challenge. Some time ago it seemed like cheap tomatoes were an impossibility. In fact someone says whatever goes up in nigeria never comes down. Happily this was not the case.

Unfortunately you didn't take into account that NL is heavily polarized ( especially the 18-30 crowd)and that people who never asked a single question while in university are now trying to make up for lost time.

Maintain your optimistic mindset. Things ARE getting better. Ignore the crowd. 99% of the time they are wrong. Positivity allows you see opportunity while the pessimistic huddle over their half empty glasses.

Wishing you a prosperous New year.

Some nairalanders are hypocrites and I believe some people do not reason logically.

Its the same people that blamed Buhari for tomato scarcity last year that can't see any thing good in the basket the OP bought for 1,500.

When tomatoes was expensive the way they were shouting Buharis name, I had to wonder if he was the cause of scarcity.

I never attributed the scarcity to Buhari, neither will I say buhari is the cause of the surplus we have now because the dynamics are different, people closed their eyes to the fact that there was a tomato disease last year, if you can blame buhari when it was expensive because of a reason beyond anyone's control then you should praise him now its surplus which I know should be normal.

Nigeria won't move forward until we stop seeing things via the lens of political affiliations, religious and ethnic sentiments.

Can't you all just try to be logical for once?

Two months time from now, You wont find any to buy.
its not the production, its about preservation for months. I have been waiting for a minister who will make provision for local preservation centers for Plantain, tomatoes, mangoes, cashew, onions, and all the perishables in the market. 40% of our production perishes after it hits the market and is not sold immediately.

This is the season of tomatoes, by February there will be no tomatoes in the market, so try and store it.
