god or God?

Amo, the only son Mr and Mrs Ekieme whose family is one of the most dedicated and faithful family to the river deity (Adisua), founds himself another god who he wishes to introduce to his parents.

Having lived under the protection and watch of Adisua for 18years as believed, Amo travels to the city to continue his tertiary education. There he saw something he has never seen since he was born. A boy of about his age controlling multitude and giving words of wisdom to the elders in the university community with so much authority. This same young man touched a mad man right in his presence and the mad man regained his sanity. An extra ordinary power beyond his comprehension!

Amo looked into the eyes of this strange boy and saw extraordinary boldness, power, and will no mortal man has ever possessed...and this kind of inner peace inside of him. Being so perplexed, he enquired: what powers are you using? Adisua is not in this clan and this is not how he operates. How come you possess such a great power at this young age, are you a priest, what deity are you serving? Amo said inquisitively.

I am not a priest my friend, but I can do all things because I know who I am and whom I serve. He has never let me down and he never do, the boy replied. If you want I can share my secret with you, he further stressed briefly.

Knowing how curious Amo was, he shared his secret and the source of his power with him; and offered to introduce his source of power to him. He promised to fortify him so he also can be as powerful as he wishes to be. Amo agreed, I wish for this power, I also want to be recognised and be respected in my village; i want to do these things you do. He responsed ambitiously like a man on his first night with his new bride. "But there is a problem" he continued as the tone of his changes. My parents will sacrifice me to Adisua, he said. "Yes, they will sacrifice you" added the boy. They will tie stones round your body and cast you into the deep river by sun rise, at the ding of the tower bell by the river, on the fourth day, the last day of the week as observed by your tradition.

How do you know all this? Amo asked. It was revealed to me by whom I serve, the boy answered. He knows all things, he has never failed and he will never fail. Don't be afraid, he will see you through. Just have faith.

Amo embraced the young man's god, went back home and told his parent about his new found god. His parent filled with fury, took Amo to the river for sacrifice to Adisua just as the boy had prophesied. They tied stones around him and cast him into the river. They both sat and watched as their only son sags down the water without any sign of remorse.

All of a sudden, the boy floated back with the stones still tied to his body. They were astonished; seen the manifestation of a greater power, they enquired of this great god who has done this: "who is this god, where does he live, what's his name"? Please, tell us so we may live and die for him. Mr and Mrs Ekieme asked.
"His name is Jesus Christ, He lives inside of us and He is the living God", and Amo led them to Christ afterwards.
