i tried that a long time ago when i first joined this forum and i got the same response. People are so cynical they think you are trying to get them mixed up in something. My advice check out the info brooklyn99 gave or join RCCG in the Bronx if you are in the city they have lots of good people there (Nigerians) and you know nobody parties like church folks lol

I find that its most Nigerians who are born in the U.S. and have probably never been to Niger---are the ones who have this desire and yearn to hang out with people in the Nigerian community BADLY---- quite interesting.

Honestly such a shame! It's funny 'cos it's not a do or die things before some of these people especially the girls start talking all sorts of pieces talking about widows, 90 yr-old grand ma or organise by urself or even prostituting. If they are looking for husband, they should be open and say so not bringing unnecessary drama. what is RCCG if I may ask?

I disagree because for me when i came here i felt alone it was hard making friends and i figured my Naija people would help me feel at home but i couldn't find anyone that i stayed friends with. Besides when i got here the credit card scams was still big out here so my mother made sure i didn't mix with Nigerians because there were too many stories of people just hanging out and being arrested by association.

google your hometown's association if you're Nigerian.

start from there- most of them have meetings and social events.

Attend a Nigerian church

look for your state associations on the web.

However, most of these cultural gatherings can come with a lot of baggage just like at home. So bear this in mind.

It's not a matter of being born in the US or not, there is really no place like home. Even if you have a mixture of all races, there would still be that desire to mingle amongst your own people.

you are right. I see what you mean. But I have been in some Nigerian circles in the U.S. and there are classes of people. I speak of socioeconomic status--- and there are just some people who you do not want to associate with.


SCHOOLS ARE THE BEST PLACE TO MEET people I think, you can sort out the LOSERS from the achievers----- I don't even do CHURCHES esp Nigerian churches. I go to an interdenominational church.

Thanks Omega, wasn't really that interested, just thought I try if there are a lot since this is a Nigerian site. There are enough parties but usually don't come across a lot of Nigerian ones but I'm good! Thanks newayz
