Nigeria, as we know, has 36 states and capital. However, these states vary in terms of economic, financial resources as well as size. There are a lot of beautiful states in Nigeria. Some of these states house the most developed cities in Nigeria. The cost of living in these places are often expensive but sure you will get comfort and luxury staying there.

Some rich states in Nigeria house some of the nation’s most expensive cities. Check out the most expensive cities in Nigeria below in no particular order;

1. Abuja

We cannot use the word expensive and not think about the Federal Capital Territory of the country. Abuja houses most of the head offices of different firms, businesses, multinational firms, hotels, government establishments and parastatals.
Abuja is an organised and well-planned city, with good roads. It is the nation’s powerhouse. With Abuja known for it’s beautiful and well-planned layout, location and luxury homes could not be better matched. A duplex in Abuja can go for as high as N600million.
The cost of living in Abuja is so high, making it one of the most expensive cities in Nigeria.
From housing to basic food items, Abuja can be a lot to take in if you don’t have a fat source of income but without a doubt, this city is one of the most beautiful cities to live in Nigeria.

2. Port Harcourt

Port Harcourt is the capital of Rivers State. With Port Harcourt been an oil-rich state with a large industrial area and having quite a number of multinational firms, and businesses related to the petroleum industry, it is little wonder it is one of the most expensive places to live in Nigeria.
Port Harcourt holds a significant number of upper and middle-class residents from the oil sector and various walks of life.

3. Lagos

Lagos which is known as the commercial hub of Nigeria and has a growing population of over 21 million people is also the second fastest growing city and largest metropolitan area in Africa. Lagos is a megacity on the rise.
Lagos, which is popularly known as ”Eko”, is considered home to a lot of businesses as well as diverse tribes, people and culture which is the reason why the city is often regarded as a no man’s land The city is regarded as no man land. The influx of people in Lagos does not make the city a cheap one to live in. From transport fares to housing, to basic food items, the overall cost of living in Lagos cannot be considered cheap. The standard of living in Lagos cannot be compared to that of neighbouring states like Ogun or Oyo.

Once the capital of Nigeria, Lagos is a dream city to live in and own a property. Most Nigerians and even foreigners what to identify with this megacity as it is one of the most developed cities in Nigeria. In tune with its fame, properties in Lagos are quite expensive. renting an apartment can cost $30, 000 or more a year and buying one can cost you over a million dollars in various parts of the city like Ikoyi, Victoria Island, and Lekki.
