Oyo, Osun pay N500m to end
crisis
Share 0 Tweet 0

The Oyo and Osun state governments have
paid N250 million each to the Ladoke
Akintola University of Technology
(LAUTECH) to end the crisis rocking the
institution.

The Nation confirmed the development
from a very top source in the university
yesterday.
The source said: “Yes, both states have
paid the amount as promised and the sum
is now in the kitty of the university.”
LAUTECH students have been at home for
eight months due to the industrial action
by all categories of workers in the
institution.

The crisis reached a peak last week when
LAUTECH students protested to the Office
of the Governor of Oyo State in Ibadan, the
state capital.

While addressing them, the governor
promised that each owner state would
contribute a sum of N250 million to get
back workers to their duty posts and build
on it afterwards.

Governor Abiola Ajimobi said the sum
would enable the institution to pay some
salaries and reopen for academic activities
before the end of this month.
Reacting, the President of the Students’
Union Government of the institution,
Olatunde Bakare, commended the two
governors, saying it was a way forward.

According to him, the sum, though not up
to exactly what is needed to clear salary
arrears for two months, would help kick-
start the process of implementing the
short term solution to the crisis.
Bakare said once the short term solution is
implemented, it would pave the way for
the
medium and long term solution the
financial problem plaguing LAUTECH. He
promised to confirm the payment.

Its a good thing but it's quite unfortunate that a whole session is gone already. I feel like doing something to both governors. They are wicked!

But ASUU has accepted the 2 months salary, yet refused to resume. It's claims are that government is owing 8 months and not 2 months.

Issokay o

Guess you watched a part of the video, even at the spot the students begged the governor before they left his place, it goes to show how Nigerian youths are, you watch a 30s video and you base your judgement in that, go watch the 4 minutes plus video before shouting ajimobi up and down,

Guy, go find out the problem before coming online to diss any government, Oyo has been taking major responsibilities for a while only for osun to keep benefiting based on the earlier agreement they had before starting the school, please can you do business like that? You finance a business with you money and others benefit more, did you ever hear aregbesola comment about the crisis or you think oyo owns the school all by itself? Find out about the crisis before passing your judgement

This is not about the constituted authority bowing to anyone as the students were uncivilized and acted in disrespectful manner. This is the case of the government acting right to save the fate of the students.

Then go find out, kuku tell us oyo takes all the profit now.... Thank God you didn't deny who was funding the school majorly, the way out is let Osun focus on its own university leaving lautech for oyo. Until that is done the crisis will always exist or better still, FG should take over from both states.... BTW am not from oyo or osun but I have friends there but that doesn't cloud my judgement.... BTW nobody seems to be talking about SUG that stopped school first semester exams because of that fraudulent election and how the students resulted to riots that led to school closure for 3 months in the name of semester break?
