Which one do you prefer?

hmmmm lets see, potatos is the best but not 2 compare wit yam.

it depends on how you prepare it.
but i like both 
potatoes are good depending on how you make it. i like french fries (lol) and i HATE mashed potatoes, yuck.
ill stick to yams cause im always down for some good yam porridge, one of my favorite nigerian dishes by far.

that we do but south americans more so (that were they are native to) especialy in chile. they make these pockets. they mash the potatoes and then flaten them, fill them with meat, chesse, veggies, spices. roll it up and fry it. really really good!

yeah im changing to potatoes. after giving it some thought, you can do so much with potatoes.
the taste of yams is good but after a while there is only so much you can do with a yam.

fried or cooked sweet potatoes chokes me all the time.

a sweet potato (baked, no skin) has 26 calories in every 1 oz
a red potato (baked with skin) has 25 calories in every 1 oz
a russet or round-white potato (for what ever reason people in nigeria call round-whites irish potaotes when they have nothing to do with ireland but whatever) (baked with skin) has 27 calories in every 1 oz

for the other 5,000+ varieties of potatoes it will take a bit more research to find out but basicaly will fall somewhere in the range above

this does not include butter, milk, onions, bacon, sour cream, chives or any other topping
