In recent times, there has been a call for secession by IPOB. But this has been resisted by Nigeria and has also produced bloody protest. There is a saying that "give the dog a bad name and hang him" since it is perceived that all members of IPOB are south easterners there has been some form of renewed hatred towards the south easterners or anyone sharing an opinion similar to theirs or sympathetic to the Igbo's.

While I share the same school of thought with General Gowon that Igbo's have been wronged, I don't believe in the secessionist idea and here is why

1) Nnamdi Azikiwe was a founding father of Nigeria and therefore it means we have a birthright as one of the first tribes in Nigeria and we can be better in Nigeria if only we exploit this opportunity or privilege through the right channel. And believe me if we continue in this part of downward spiral in no time the ijaws would over take us and make no mistake of thinking they are with us.

2)Since the war ended for more than 45 years we have been dwelling on biafra but the truth is we are just in a merry go round without a meaningful progress. Can u imagine someone called to negotiate biafran secession ripping people off by printing biafran passports and selling it to illiterate and the gullible. This shows that the fight for their belly not their country. Even Ojukwu couldn't continue the fight he created a party in Nigeria and contested for presidency cos he understood that the concept of Biafra was dead

3)Southeast is landlocked and an igbos are business people mainly involved in importation how would you transport your goods or import them . I purposely refused to include south South state in Biafra cos its obvious they won't secede reason being that they know they will fight another civil war with Igbo's only to breakout let us .

4) marginalization: Our we marginalizing ourselves out of Nigeria or are the Yoruba's marginalizing us or is it the Hausa's nepotism? one irrefutable fact is that Nigeria has diverse ethnic group and they will always favor their own so how then do we survive ? Go to the ants and learn its ways simple. what makes Hausa's or Yoruba more successful in Nigeria is Unity. But southeast are too divided to even take a unanimous decision regardless of our party we would rather be servants to money and closed minded due our ethno-religious believe. its time for us to wake up and realise that the devil you know is better than the angel you don't . Everyone is using Biafra as an excuse for their failure let me remind you that upon secession the rich will still be the rich and the poor the poor which will lead to another chain of excuses.

4) Hausa's have the population and politicians, Yoruba's have the scholars, Igbo's have the businessmen and also we have money .Igbos are naturally adventurous so imagine if we used our resources for technological advancement higher than the government level and give our research scientists the required help to make make giant strides in in technology rather than spending those capital in the Diaspora we would make ourselves needed and useful and of course other tribes would run to us for help . When I look at the the kind of innovation that took place during the biafran war I wonder how has the mighty fallen. we can be the tech giants of Africa only if we can spend more on our people reminds of Nazi and Hitler and how he grew with the help of scientist.

in conclusion Igbo's have never been good politians because of their plain and emotional ideologies its left for us to unite and show we are bosses where it matters most technology cause that determines who is who in this century and not who is in power this is why I say that we are the hope of Nigeria and some may envy us for our ability to thrive independently. On the other hand in politics irrespective of our party always fight for the furtherance of Igbo and south east and remember there is no Islamic party if Igbo's flood into APC today it will never be regarded as an islamic party again.

long live the Igbo nation.

long live Nigeria

You are simply showing your rootlessness.

I advice you to go and read/listen to the book "how to think like a freak" epecially the portion that seeks to explain why there is so much war in Africa. That book was written by non-Africans. You would also do well to read the latest press release from Thereasa May on the12 point plan for the post brexit Britain. And while you are at it, try to comb Nairaland for Ojukwu's personal stand on Biafra before you come here to spew your ignorance.

But from every indication, you are not an Igbo person. Or you are one born in lagos or elsewhere (outside igboland) some twenty something years ago or less.

You should be lerning now.

Stop trying to offer resolute opinions on these issues.

You simply still have a lot to learn about your history and how the world around you works.

You may share your opinion though within your inner circle.

But don't come to nairaland and create a thread to pose as if you knew all sides of what you are saying. Your nairaland public opinion at this level is doing more harm than good.

After the civil war ,igbos embraced Nigeria .what did igbos got from it ,hate ,hate upon hate from Nigerians. They vowed that an igbo will never be president. they hated Godluck because he embraced igbos.Do you know why Yorubas don't like their brother OBJ and would never say anything good of him ?its is simply because of his inclusion of igbos in his government.
They are happy with Buhari because of his nepotism and bigotry against igbos. After 40yrs after the civil war what did igbos get from government, bad roads, lack of railways, infrastructure and the only government presence is check points of customs and police after every 2Km on all Eastern roads.igbos have evaluated and realized that they are in a grave danger surrounded by enemies.

Nnamdi Azikiwe is not a founding father of Nigeria. No African or Nigerian is amongst the founding fathers of Nigeria. Lord Lugard is the founding father of Nigeria and Nigeria is nothing but a 'British invention'

How can you believe the story about the passport? How is it that anyone is selling Biafran passports yet no one has ever seen it?

3)Southeast is landlocked and an igbos are business people mainly involved in importation how would you transport your goods or import them . I purposely refused to include south South state in Biafra cos its obvious they won't secede reason being that they know they will fight another civil war with Igbo's only to breakout let us .

There is nothing like SE or SS. The constitution of Nigeria does not reconise any South East, South South or Niger Delta. What matters are the tribes. Biafra has never been an Igbo only thing, the last president of Biafra was not an Igbo man. Biafra is about Igbos and the minorities who comfortable with Igbos. Thats why a referendum is needed so that we can separate the wheat from the corn. Even if Biafra were just for Igbos, it still would not be landlocked because Igbo land extends past the so called SE into Benue, Delta, Edo, Rivers and cross River. I've even heard that there are Igbo communities in Bayelsa.

Even if Igbo land were just Anambra, Ebonyi, Imo, Abia and Enugu, you might just be surprised to find out that Anambra, Imo, Abia and Ebonyi all have access to the sea and Onitsha in Anambra already has a River Port while Obuaku in Abia is even closer to the Athlantic ocean than Porthacourt.

4) marginalization: Our we marginalizing ourselves out of Nigeria or are the Yoruba's marginalizing us or is it the Hausa's nepotism? one irrefutable fact is that Nigeria has diverse ethnic group and they will always favor their own so how then do we survive ? Marginalisation is one of the greatest reasons for one to aspire for their own country. When you have your own country, there will be no more Hausa or Yoruba to marginalise anyone.

How can you be great if your resources and technology are controlled by Abuja? You want to control your destiny? Seek your freedom first.

in conclusion Igbo's have never been good politians because of their plain and emotional ideologies its left for us to unite and show we are bosses where it matters most technology cause that determines who is who in this century and not who is in power this is why I say that we are the hope of Nigeria and some may envy us for our ability to thrive independently. On the other hand in politics irrespective of our party always fight for the furtherance of Igbo and south east and remember there is no Islamic party if Igbo's flood into APC today it will never be regarded as an islamic party again.

long live the Igbo nation.

long live Nigeria

We dont need Nigeria, we need freedom and independence. To think Nigeria is to think small. I want to see the great Igbo nation indepedent. I want to see us signing trade deals with America, China, Germany and other world powers. I want to see our products in British shops, Russian supermarkets and French stores. I want our people to have full acces to their coal in Enugu, their Oil in Abia, their Gas in Anambra their Oil and Gas in Anioma and so on. I want true federalism practiced in our new country with the host communities keeping at least 75% of the proceeds of their land, resource control and full fiscal responsibility.

None of these things are possible in Nigeria where Igbo/Yoruba/Hausa dont even see themselves as brothers. Nigeria is a sinking ship that is heading no where but down into the abyss.

[s]In recent times, there has been a call for secession by IPOB.

But southeast are too divided to even take a unanimous decision regardless of our party we would rather be servants to money and closed minded due our ethno-religious believe. its time for us to wake up and realise that the devil you know is better than the angel you don't . lol bro stop being sarcastic. how can there be development in a region where there is talk of secession and non support for the government or Nigeria as a whole we have to decide what we want before we demand for what we want.
Ohk sir! since the end of de civil war there has been massive development going on in dere land and a visible federal presence over dere and all de benefis suddenly stopped when kanu opend his radio station in 1988 ad asked for seccession..oh ohk I get u.
