The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has posted a list of documents every Nigerian driver must have.


The 6 documents are:

1. Drivers License
2. Vehicle license
3. Certificate of Road worthiness
4. Insurance certificate
5. Proof of ownership
6. Learners permit

Failure to posses any of the above listed documents can lead to arrest.

No. 6 Should be expunge from the list, we all can’t be assumed to be learners…!!!

Really proof of ownership meaning what? Registration or ownership paper if paid in full.

Lol Nigeria asks for alot of stuff. Licences and registration and proof of insurance coverage in America.

The roads worthiness paper could be substituted for registration sticker.

Proof of mental fitness. Very important. Lots of Nigerian drivers are mad, were mad or about to be mad. It's evident in the way they overtake, park, curse other road users, make turns and apply their brakes.

Maybe they wanna be sure some people didn't learn to drive inside their bathrooms. Threads on "when/how did you learn to drive?", shows that lots of Nigerians didn't learn the right way. That's why some of them don't know simple road signs...not like we have much of them in Nigeria sha.

The procedure for obtaining the learner's permit is as follows:

1) Applicant must be 18 years of age.
2) Obtain form MVA 15.
3) Pay the prescribed fee.
4) Attend a certified driving school.
5) Obtain a pass from driving school with third issue learner's permit.
6) Drive for at least 3 months accompanied by an instructor who is a licensed driver.
7) Affix plates displaying the letter "L" on the front and rear of the vehicle.

^^^These are the conditions for obtaining one, how many of us here fulfilled this process to the last.

The FRSC should endeavour to take a drivers'licence applicant to a driving test before issuing a License.

A license should override a permit.

A dad can very well teach his son to drive, but it can never trump the importance/teachings of a professional driving instructor from an authorised and licensed driving school. Driving goes beyond hitting the pedals. So, everyone should/must go to a driving school.
The importance of professional driving school can not be overemphasized.

The FRSC should endeavour to take a drivers'licence applicant to a driving test before issuing a License.

The FRSC can not start taking hundreds-of-thousands of Nigerians for road tests. That's why they listed accredited driving schools where people can go learn,pass the tutorials, obtain the LP and come to them for issuance of DL.

A license should override a permit.

I think it should, in an ideal country with ideal people.
