If you're making money and still in that house, they will see you as God sent. By the way, Matthew Mcoughnaey the actor still lives with parents and he's well paid in Hollywood. 2 Likes |

SmartyPants: You are smart. Early departure doesn't always translate to early settlement in life. Many don't know this. They all just want to run out and have the freedom to engage in uncultured acts that parents wouldn't permit under their roofs. Good success meets you when you diligently pursue it and are mentally prepared. 3 Likes |

madjune: In fact they will want you to marry and remain with them. Who wants a liability? Even when you move out and are married but unable to cater for your new family, this is how your wife would also see you. It's all about adding value to the lives of those with whom you live. 1 Like |

Excuse me. But the truth is that an offspring at home (meaning doing nothing) at that age is a reflection of his parents and is a product of bad parenting. I was telling someone the other day that the beasts of the wild 'teach' their offspring survival skills instinctively. They teach them how to hunt, fight for their food and wellbeing. It is a natural animal instinct lost in humans these days. At the very least why can't the parents transfer the skills and drive that took them out of their parents houses when they were young to their kids now. Nobody is born a success. What everyone is and knows is taught by someone. In those days even without formal education parents did take their children to the farm to learn and work and when they came of age carved out a portion of land for them to fend for themselves and secure their future. Land today has been exchanged for education and farming for professions. What can't the parents take the young man and woman to work to show him or her how money is made. Why can't he be taken to 'the office' or workshop or clinic or library or laboratory or shop or cantonment to learn, aid and become a man or woman of value. It is the parent who has no value for himself or herself that cannot transmit value. My kids will not write applications, walk the streets or seek employment for one second of their lives because I am a man of vision who knows they will finish or continue what time will not permit me to accomplish and hopefully they will be a better, upgraded version of me. I will not go to school, acquire knowledge, waste years in building experience and capacity only to let it all rot when I die and have my generation start afresh. That is why we are so backward in Africa. It is all about money not about value, behaving in ways even goats will not. That may be a cow on the bed but what births a cow if not an older cow. Nonsense. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Gten: I blame the system. The absence of a mortgage system that is affordable and lets you own your own home in as little as 10 years does not help matters here. If you were brought up in a middle class environment, and you are a graduate earning about 50k per month, you might find it difficult to rent a flat in a decent area because you would be told its 500k per annum and you must make a down payment of 2 years plus agency commission of 10% of the entire sum, plus caution fees. The above causes young graduates to be stranded in their middle class parents homes, unless they (parents) offer to give you some funds to start off life as an independent adult. Some strong guys actually took the hard way to establish their independence by moving from their parents middle class homes to to face to face apartments before making it on their own to move to plush homes of their own or rent such apartments; however, people are different and some might find it hard to leave the comfortable environment they are used to for a strange environment devoid of privacy and comfort. 1 Like |

The post is trash if you ask me!!!! That is why when I see some ladies who say they want to date only guys that have a future prospect I just shake my head in amazement!!!!i I know of someone who lived with the parents till he was 37. Was in a rented apartment until he was 49. But at 58 had about $20,000,000.00( twenty million US dollars) way back 2014. mind you he wasnt into politics but was chasing a contract with a multinational oil and gas company for over a decade. Life isn't determined by how good you start!! Its a marathon. There is no competition. Some start well and mid way its terrible, some late and end well. Just do your bit and leave the rest. When its working for you never brag that you are too smart, when its going bad never think you are witch hunted!! Time and unforseen occurences befall each one!!! 3 Likes |
