I doubt if the protest will change anything but my take home from the protest is that it will really show that people are displeased with the present government and her death inducing policies

Don't worry about the tear gas since you're not going to protest. Prophets of doom. If one drop of blood is shed on that day, APC will see that there are 165 million Nigerians that didn't vote for them.

Wonder why people keep opening threads on this issue.

If you like the currently state of things in Nigeria (I.e. your standard of living is better off than it was prior to May 29th) , then please stay at home.

If your standard of living, welfare is worse off since this administration was sworn in then please join us on February 6th.

Both #IstandwithBuhari and #istandwith2baba want to protest on the same day...so that you people will continue to die...as usual....imagine som1 a governor who cant even pay your salari to also joined u for protest in the name of "bad governance" while he himself is also part of the government.... this prototest is against BUHARI not bad governance.... fayose is doing this is because of his political interest using u as a cover and shield... lets them go and bring their children to lead the protest but they will nver.. u goooo...GO and die....

Esteemed ladies and gentlemen of this great forum. This is a thread to gauge the general feeling of the hardworking, tax paying, responsible citizens of our country. Kindly state your own take on the planned protest scheduled for the 6th of February nationwide. State whether or not you believe a protest should be held on the said date and why.

This is my own take.
I work hard everyday to make a living for myself and my family. I pay my taxes to the government of this nation. I fulfil my obligations by obeying all the rules and regulations of this country.

Meanwhile,
Government officials and politicians who are meant to serve me put their needs and desires first before mine. Politicize issues of the economy and security while i now work harder, earn less and spend more to survive. Everyday i am at greater risk of losing my job because of the rapidly decaying economic situation. In all honesty, i have never had it this bad as a Nigerian (i don't even want to start listing the current prices of commodities).

I support the protest against the government of the day because i think enough is enough. Is it a crime to be a citizen of this country? undecided
(Note: I am not protesting against any political party!)

Let me have your own take on this issue with reasons. Please let's have a decent conversation smiley

i don't support. y?, because not somebody who got 2 jeeps worth 500 million naira each, for wedding from a past governor, which shows he is part o fthe corruption, not him will as kme to protest against this govt. let him return that first

Let's ask out Govs questions
and are we stoping the federal government from monitoring or prosecuting Govs that doesn't spend the money appreciately?

Or is the FG not suppose to monitor it released funds?

How many people are willing and preparing to attend?

What is the motive and line of events/activities for the parade?

These (and more) are the important questions that we should be asking ourselves and the organisers likewise.

My take on the protest:

Even though this protest may not make much difference, but it will make a statement that we are no longer suffering and smiling. Now we are taking to the street. In time, we will write and sign a vote of no confidence on our Representatives in one of the hallow chambers.

Secondly, the protest organizers should not only agonize but also organize. Let them give practicable solutions to this economic quagmire. It is not good to complain alone without proffering solutions. So let them give us alternatives.

Third, what next after the protest? We go home, tired, eat - of we still have something to eat - sleep - without light - and wake up Tuesday morning tired and worried again about the country? What exactly are we going to do after the protest?

Am I in or out or on the fence? I am ...... in support but will not be there, b'lohun bafe.

No government,I repeat no government in the world have ever turn around the economy of a battered country like Nigeria in 2 years. It took Obama close to four years to turn around America s economy after recession.
Nigerias economy depends solely over 70% on crude oil export, the price of crude has crashed from average $100 to average $40 dollars in the two years this government is in power. Not forgetting that daily export has also plummet thanks to the militant blowing up pipelines. Under this condition only diversification can help the economy and this takes time. Therefore,protest from now till next year, 15 years of misrule can never be remedied in 2 days.

Exactly what i've been thinking/saying since 2015 wen buhari first gave bailout funds oo! God bless you.
States are sovereign, so buhari cant interfere in their affair unless there's serious security threat, therefore governors are doing anyhow.

If all states can act normal, then the enormousity of the load on the FG's neck would drastically be reduced.
Instead of focusing on the FG and Buhari, we need to hold the states accountable and protest against them everyday until their state assemblies and governors start doing the right and d right tin always.
