Social order is obtained when the people are doing what is expected of them. It is a term which is used by sociologists to refer to a system of people, relationship and customs operating smoothly to accomplish the work of a society. Every society, no matter how primitive has a set of social and cultural mechanisms developed over the years which allows it to function effectively

One thing that may surprise behavioural scientists in Nigeria is the extent of social and moral decadence in the Nigerian society. For instance take the issue of corruption which is a now a huge monster which has permeated every sphere of our society and is thriving still. Corruption as it is has got its extension expanding more. Why is it that most members of the society are now behaving in ways which negate the norms and values of the society? There appears to be, at all levels in the Nigerian society, strong pressure to confirm to emerging societal expectations of bribery and corruption, kidnapping, easy money, examination malpractices, waves of assassinations and armed robbery are examples of deviant behavior which have take untold proportions in the present Nigerian society.
