honda first made me love two door cars with the 2008 coupe. First time I saw that car was in 2009, white colour with black 18" chromes. Damn! The back of that car looked like a slim babe with a huge bubble shape assssss.
Then toyota also ministered to me with 2005 solara series, audi tt, cross fire, etc.
But I don't know how I missed this lexus, the car is just sleek. production started as far back as 2003 and the toks goes for as much as 4M now... yes even more than that since the dollar hike.
I recently came across the 2006 model for around 7M... 7M for a 2006 ride.
its not the price that wows me but the design. The interior? Oh my! the car speaks to me. It looks so beautifully crafted, fragile in some kinda way yet feels & looks so durable at the same time, like it cannot damage becos of its small compact size.
Toyota got me with this one...I must say toyota designs lexus cooler than their toyota brands.......its an old car but I just love it.

Toyota makes Lexus. In some countries the cars with Lexus badge in US actually have Toyota badge. For example Lexus GS is called Toyota Aristo in Japan, Lexus RX is called Toyota harrier in some Asian countries.

Nah, not counter-productive. Using luxury brands to debut new innovations might be one of the numerous reasons. It could also be a shot at market-segmentation _identify different classes of consumers and satisfy them.

Actually this Lexus SC 430 is a great car. The first gen shares parts with Toyota Supra which is one of Toyota's best sports cars. It is a hard top convertible sports car. Whoever drives a v8 shouldn't worry about fuel economy. Mpg of 16 city and 23 highway is pressty good for a v8, a lot better than lots of v8 out there and still better than some v6 SUVs

The Lexus SC competition is too much not even from the Toyota, the best selling coupes are still from Benz the SLK and CLK, I saw one advert for this Lexus at 8million naira, why will I buy this Lexus when I can get MA self a CLK 55 AMG OR BMW Or even audi A4 convertible.

Also target market matters alot most married people using coupes have a second car they use (Nigeria context).

The question is why?

A wagon is expensive in naija because of its target market plenty well well, it can be used to carry goods and as a transport vehicle so it's hot cake but the convertible is for young guys like wey still dey find his feet, will I buy a convertible golf probably 10yrs ago, not now and 10 years ago I didn't have that kind of money to buy a car.
