Not all always get it anyway because repentance is divine and it is God who grants it to whoever He wish even at the point of death and they get saved. Some desire to repent and accept Jesus at the point of death but are not able because it is not granted to them. Believing is one of the most important criteria of God to see eternal life( John 3:16) and the unbelieving we have been told will have their path in the lake of fire(Revelation 21:8 ). One I know and have read about, few seconds before his death screamed in a loud voice “Oh what have I done…. I need a second chance” and he gave up the ghost.

What do you think he must have seen that made him seek repentance and a second chance at the point of his death when he had all the opportunity to do so before that time?

That tells that they know the truth. The result obtained at the end of a practice tells whether the practice is good or bad. Towards the end of their days on earth, they realize they threaded the wrong path.

that's what I think also. The truth right in front them but they willingly summit their minds to be blinded by the devil. Some disabled walk with their eyes blind while some other disabled walk their minds blind and it is far better to live with blind eyes than to live with blind mind because there is life with blind eyes but blind mind leads to to both physical and eternal death but we all pray that God help both those who live with blind eyes and minds to see again

yeah, your are right. Many religionists will desire true repentance which is only found with Jesus because Jesus Christ is no religion but the only way to God.
