Electrical.... Wires are laid and well sealed up (with a mixture of laterite and mortar) within the bricks that are cut through (specially).

Usually for a residential building the interior will be plastered, but the client has chosen to keep the aesthetic beauty of the red bricks within....

Great job! cool Unfortunately, there is no laterite on my site and the whole area is sandy. I am still trying to find out cost of transporting laterite blocks from Osogbo to Lagos. undecided

What are the advantages of redbricks to the conventional sandcrete blocks?

Advantages of red-brick over traditional cement (sandcrete) blocks.

* It is bulletproof.
* It is more environmentally friendly than sandcrete blocks (it is a greener option)
* It is the most appropriate for our climate and environment (being thermally efficient, in that when the ambient temperature of the exterior is very high it maintains a cool interior and when the ambient temperature is cool, it maintains a warm interior.... similar to how mud houses in the village works... same principle, but a better technology employed).
* It is sound proof.
* It is unique ( the aesthetics of a red bricks building, singles it out... (cos it's beautiful and unique)
* It is made from natural materials (main ingredient is laterite)
* It has long term cost benefits (especially when you leave it unpainted, we will only apply varnish to it, to make it waterproof, that way fungus and mosses can't mess with it.) However, You can paint the exterior too if you so wish. With sandcrete blocks after a few years you will need to repaint (retouch)... infact red bricks is d most suitable for public or government owned buildings because of uts low maintenance cost in the light of our poor maintenance culture (especially for public buildings)
* It has shorter construction time... You can set up a red brick building within 4 weeks....
* When faced with the threat of demolition you can simply disaseemble it and relocate the building....

There are a lot more advantages to it. These are just a few.

How cost efficient is building with red bricks? Like say, a if I need to build a little modest 4 bedroom bungalow and need say 12,000 pieces.
How much would 12,000 pieces of bricks cost me?

So sorry for the long silence... I have not been active here recently...

The cost analysis of using red bricks is best done with the whole picture in mind.... not just bricks price versus sandcrete blocks price....

Where you save money when you use red bricks is actually on mortar.... both for joining the blocks together and cost of plastering... (cost of sand, cement and labour for joining and cost of sand, cement and labour for plastering)

For 12,000 bricks the eventual cost depends on a lot of factors... availability of laterite in the location can help lower costs, how far from our base the site is, is another factor... the price isn't the same for all clients... you can talk to me on WhatsApp for more info on the price.

(In order to build a cheaper, stronger and the same kind of house, just simply use burnt bricks instead of concrete blocks).

You will use bricks for the entire construction and later on plaster and put all your necessary wiring construction - you are simply just replacing "Block" with "Burnt Bricks". The best supplier for burnt bricks in Nigeria is a company that has its website at www.limult.com

Buy High Quality burnt bricks for building from Limult.com - they are Nigeria's no 1 online seller for Bricks and clay products.

Visit http://limult.com/product/buy-high-quality-local-burnt-bricks-l230-h125-w100-bulk-building/ to place your order.

Minimum order quantity is 4000 pieces.

Burnt bricks are the cheaper and stronger to use in constructing a building. Your building will last forever. The oldest house in the world today is still standing because it was built with burnt bricks.
