http://www.ireporteronline.com/49625_impressive-sierra-leone-pastor-finds-huge-706-carat-diamond The news today of a sierra-Leone pastor discovering a 706-carat diamond is making wave. The pastor even though his name wasn't mentioned, has brought great blessing not just to himself and church, but to the community in particular and the nation at large. But let us pause a bit and ask ourselves some questions. Was this discovery made in the bible on a pulpit as he was preaching to the congregation? Do we have an idea what a mine looks like, and what it means for a pastor of a church to subject himself to such activity? Most people will condemn a pastor in a mine, and maybe accuse him for leaving the church to engage in other business. Does this discovery justifies that pastors are also given potentials and called to other areas of life that when explored will be of benefit to the Church and society? Looking intently in the scriptures, there are diversities of gifts and areas of calling. They may not all be spelt out vividly, but I believe God gave to people this special ability to do something different something special and peculiar. Pastors aren't exempted from using their talents and gifts to serve in other areas of life. It should be the place of the church to make provision for such areas of calling then identify and place such pastors in them. Because what you're called to do is the only thing you'll have passion for. It is called diversification. |

This is strange to me sha. That people get pissed at pastors who have regular jobs. Never heard anyone get mad over the fact that a pastor has another career outside the pastoring job. Intact, redeemed pastors typically have careers other than preaching at the pulpit. Maybe they mistake missionary job for pastor job but even at that, if his career is flexible, he can still earn a buck while on mission. |
