Dear Nairalanders,please I need your advice.I work in a place where a woman was my boss and I was a head of department.this woman intimidated and oppressed me such that when my wife was in the hospital giving birth she insist I must partake in the official assignment then,all in a bid to punish me,later on she was transferred and another woman brought in to replace her,this new boss was good initially, but later started her own intimidation and oppression to my person as head of department,on weekends when I was supposed to spend time with my wife and little kids,since I close work very late on weekdays,she will not allow me,she must use one excuse or the other to keep me tied up officially. At a time I got fed up but decided to endure with the job.not too long, a case came up in the office in which she was indicted from the head office,so she felt I was the one who reported her when I did not,so she swear that I must never get a promotion in our office.But thankGod Man is not God,she sat on my promotion for long but when God stood up for me after waiting on God,we wrote a promotion exam and about 25 of us,and I came out the best,was promoted under her nose and transferred out of her branch,but unfortunately, the place where I was transferred to was still headed by a woman again who happens to be her friend and on a day when I was down with fever and could not come to work but got an excuse duty from the doctor which I sent to the office,I learnt she came to my new branch,and in my absence I suspected she must have discussed me with this my new boss,because as soon as I returned after recovery the attitude of this my boss changed as any little thing I do gets her angry no matter how I tried to please her,up to the extent that she started giving me warning letters for no just cause despite the fact that I am her assistant and do my work well.then I notice she has been influenced by the visit of the former boss.Just today she called me and told me that I will not be visiting home during the weekend since this new post is a little bit far and the accommodation provided is not enough for me and my family and of course my wife cannot leave her government job and join me over here for the meantime, so it lies on me that every weekend I should be visiting home which I have been doing,but just as a proof that she has been influenced,she cancelled my weekend visiting of my family for no just cause,at this point I feel oppressed and about seeking for a transfer or resignation.PLEASE I SOLICIT YOUR ADVICE ON THE BEST DECISION TO TAKE AT THIS POINT IN TIME.THANKS AND GOD BLESS

Why don't you sit your current boss down and discuss. Ask her what that lady came to say and do. Tell her if she came to talk about you that you think she your boss should also hear your own side. Make sure you approach her in a friendly manner.

Also make sure you present yourself as opposite from what she has been told. With time she will see your former boss for who she really is. Work on your art of diplomacy and make sure you put in more effort at work. Make sure you deliver on time and even ask her before you leave for work if she has anything else for you to do. If you are diligent in your work, there is no way she will need you during the weekend.

You also need to look inwards and correct your bad attitude if you have any. Only you has had problem with 3 different bosses. Always examine yourself and the role you play in situations. 3 different people in different locations cannot be lying on you. I did not say you should lose confidence in yourself but find out where you need to improve.

These experiences are all a learning process for you. You will be fine. In life you will always meet difficult people. Learn to turn them to your own side and use them for your own benefit.
