Representing one’s country and playing international football should be the pinnacle of a player’s career, believing there ought to be great pride and honour in representing your country. However, some greatest players swapped national teams, sometimes more than once.

Eventually, Most of these players who play for more countries face the difficulties of choosing either their native country or the descent country. So they feel like if they were to choose one; the other might be offended.

This the top 5 of players you might know that have played for two or more different countries:

5.). Thiago Motta
Former Barcelona midfielder Thiago Motta has played for a several of top European clubs over the last years, such as; Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Genoa, Inter Milan, and PSG, since 2012.
A great midfielder with good vision and passing abilities, Motta has attained 18 trophies at club level, including league titles in Spain, Italy and France, as well as winning the Champions League twice.
The PSG midfielder first played internationally for his native Brazil, winning two caps in 2003, but since he was not recalled for eight years, in 2011 he accepted a call-up from Italy.
4.). Michel Platini

The Former UEFA president Michel Platini won Ligue 1, Serie A, European Cup and European Championship as well as three Ballon d’Ors in his glorious career.
He took France to two World Cup semi-finals and most would probably consider Michel Platini to be France’s greatest player of all time.
He won 72 caps for France, scoring 41 goals from midfield and having great success, most notably at Euro ’84.
After retiring from football with Juventus. Platini played for another national team appearing in a friendly game for Kuwait side against the Soviet Union.
3. Nacer Chadli

Natively from Belgium but being of Moroccan descent, it is more understandable that Nacer Chadli had a hard decision to make with regards to which country to represent at the international level.
Chadli was first called up to the Morocco squad in 2010 and accepted the call-up.
A year later Chadli switched his allegiances, and since that time the West Bromwich Albion winger has been doing well in his current national team Belgium.
2. DIEGO Costa

Costa is a typical example of a today player who has played for two national teams, Diego Costa represented his native Brazil twice before making the controversial decision to shifting his adherence and play for Spain instead.
La Liga and Premier League winner who seems to have controversy follow him wherever he goes played for Brazil in friendly games.
Therefore, FIFA allowed him to switch national teams. And Costa headed to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil with Spain, but Ironicly, both countries’ tournaments ended in humiliation.
1.) Alfredo Di Stefano. The five-time European Cup winner, two-time Ballon d’Or winner, was named as Spain’s greatest player of the last 50 years in 2003.
Alfredo Di Stefano made the transition to playing for the Spanish national team whilst playing in Madrid. Di Stefano actually played for three national teams; firstly his native country Argentina, then Colombia and finally Spain.

He made big name for himself especially in his Spain, but Unfortunately for him he never had the chance to played in World Cup.
