A group of senators pushing for the release ofdetained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra,(IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu and former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki may have concluded arrangements to invoke relevant Senate rules to compel the Attorney General of the Federation, Mallam Abubakar Malami to effect immediate release of the duo.Leader of the concerned senators, Chief Mao Ohuabunwa, has already drawn the attention of the Senate to the continued detention Kanuand Dasuki despite court orders asking the Federal Government to free them.Senator Godswill Akpabio, had opposed Ohuabunwa’s motion to free Kanu and Dasuki,on the ground that it was out of order for Ohuabunwa to introduce the motion especially when it had nothing to do with the debate on the appearance of Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali in uniform.Ohuabunwa asked the Senate to prevail on the Attorney General of the Federation to advice President Muhammadu Buhari to free both Kanu and Dasuki the same way he(Malami) advised the Customs boss to ignore Senate invitation. The Abia North senator told journalists in Abuja that the continued detention of the IPOB leader and the former NSA despite court orders asking the Federal Government to free them was a gross violation of the fundamental human rights of the duo .He said that some concerned senators who he is privileged to lead have decided to join other Nigerian leaders in asking for the release of Kanu and Dasuki.Ohuabunwa said ” I still stand by my prayers last week on the floor of the Senate that the Attorney General of the Federation should advice the president to release Kanu and Dasuki the same way he advised the Customs boss to ignore Senate invitation on the groundthat the matter was in court”He said that the continued detention of Kanu and Dasuki amounted to disobedience of court orders.Ohuabunwa said that he was already discussing the matter with some senators to formally draw the attention of the Senate to the long detention of the duo.“We should have respect for rule of law and I support the call for the immediate release of Kanu and Dasuki.

We igbos are so emotional and they use that against us a lot ..we are the most intelligent tribe in Africa ..but our emotion and impatiaance are our greatest limitations

The power to jail KANU lies not with buhari so too the power to free him ...they are just using emotions against us

If we are really serious about Biafra ..any politician we will vote must openly declare support for Biafra ...let's see the real people working against Igbo land

Hmmm, something tells me the tail end of this regime shall be horrible as this friction bw the law makers and the presidency will be so intense. Buhari may mean well, but he lacks the competence that a leader needs to be incharge. Saraki is far more smarter than the presidency.

Nwanne'm, Chukwu gozie gi. You have spoken well. We Igbos are the architect of our own misfortune. We Igbos are filled with hate, tribalism, bitterness, claninshness, and wickedness. Unfortunately, if sensible Igbos like us point out this flaws, our Ummuna brothers accuse us of being an afonja.

You are absolutely spot-on. An irrefutable fact of Law!.. The AGF is the Most powerful individual in the corridor of power. He can single handedly institute a legal action or proceeding of impeachment against the President as well as shut down the NA the same channel by the applicability of his constitutional powers. He is answerable to Nobody not even Mr. President.

You should feel compelled to inform your paymasters in the Senate not to bite more than they can chew.

AGF can use the powers of his office to ensure that the criminal who committed a treasonable offence against the Nation, rot in hell & be fed to the worms.

Mr Vitalis, the power to release Nnamdi Kanu lies in the hands of the court and the court's have serially granted him bail which the President has refused to comply with. So therefore an Igbo Senator asking the executive to release him Is not emotional blackmail or whatever. It is merely asking the President to obey the law and stop holding the man illegally.

Does the AGF have the power tow do that? I doubt it.
The way Nigeria is structured gives the President a strong power to wield.
Buhari should release the guy.

People who jubilate at the thought of the South-south and South-east relationship breaking down are very funny. Akpabio only opposed the motion as it was brought at a wrong session as the Session concerned solely the Custom guy. Even Akpabio opposed it does it mean Akwa-Ibom pple hate Igbo pple?
I do not necessarily believe in Biafra but if Nigeria splits up there is a good chance that Akwa-cross guys will go with the Igbo because of the benefit that they might derive. Do any of these Igbo-haters know that Akwa-Ibom aims to build Ibaka sea-port mainly to serve the South-eastern market? Some folks should just chill with their hatred abeg.
