Not really. I am talking about cargo drones here. They are small drones that will help deliver goods to a particular destination.

Would this drones deliver my washing machine?

I sent an email to Jumia and Konga yesterday that instead of pay on delivery to homes, they should do pay on delivery at the nearest post office to the buyer. It sounds fair and would reduce the risk of their delivery men getting robbed or killed.

An open place like a bank, an eatery or any security outfit like police station close to the delivery point is a welcome idea.

Death sentence for the culprits.
Jumia needs to retrain drivers on safe package delivery methods and if possible use a dual crew for all delivery packages.... ..

This simply kills the notion of home delivery. Let's not have a knee-jerk reaction because of this evil act by this killers.
A joint up thinking and safety process, would profer a better solution

Lol @ shoot 'em down. Unfortunately and as good as that idea sounds, everything good that kicks off in the country always gets abused at some point along the line. How will this country move forward with that kinda mindset and value systems from a larger percentage of it's population?

Some useless guys go still rob drone grin

Guy, no kill me with laughter o grin grin grin

If such ideas will compromise the main purpose of home delivery, then anyone that insists on home delivery should pay the complete money for the item he or she is ordering first. As a man cannot steal what he has already paid for.

The moment you start tweaking the payment on delivery method to the extent that the buyer would leave his or her house to go collect the item somewhere else, the service becomes defeated sort of. I really don't know why everything that is being introduced to make life easier for us, gets abused in naija. Sometimes, I feel this country is a cursed land. I think for a start, delivery men should be warned not to enter into people's houses. Anyone who orders an item, should be able to come out of the house to the gate where passersby would be able to see them.

and also collect huge money where passers by will see them abi?

It's time to look at the possibility of using drones in Nigeria.

Drug dealers in the US already use drones to dispatch their merchandise after you pay using bit coins in deep Web sites powered by Tor browsers like Silk Road.
Re: #JumiaNigeria Nigerians Recommend Adjustments To Courier Companys Delivery Model by xdos(m): 8:30am On Apr 02, 2017
First, Jumia/Konga should eliminate the option of pay on delivery. To deliver an item, they should use more than one person especially if location is remote. Though I am of the opinion that if they eliminate the pay on delivery, it should take care of every other thing.

I recommend that Jumianigeria should have collection centers at major cities in the 36 +1 states of the federation.where clientele go and make payments/take delivery of their orders.

Jumai had to introduce pay at delivery after many customers complained about the quality of their products especially cloth items.

If they hadn't screwed up the first time around maybe Nigerians would have been confident about paying online and getting the quality they saw on their website.

The death of that poor dispatch guy is really sad and unfortunate.

But the truth is that without Home Delivery and Pay on Delivery, Julia and others are dead already.

Firstly, no one will pay for an unseen good or unconfirmed good from a 'faceless' shop. Nigerians won't even try it with physical stores talkless e-stores.

Secondly, the main sales drive of Jumia and others is the luxury of receiving my good at home.
Imagine I ordered a double door refrigerator from Jumia and I'm told to come transport it myself, that doesn't make sense because I'd rather walk in to any Scanfrost or Thermocool store to buy It, inspect on-site and transport it myself.

I hope they figure this out.

Best thing to do is enter your debit/credit card details or use bank mobile apps to verify the real identity of a potential customer.

Telling u places I do buy things online from bro. I don't do payment on delivery. Rather if what I ordered I don't like it I decline them and get another or get repayed
Re: #JumiaNigeria Nigerians Recommend Adjustments To Courier Companys Delivery Model by Nobody: 8:37am On Apr 02, 2017
People patronize Jumia not because the goods are cheap or original. It's because they are stress free. If they create a pickup point, what would be the difference from buying the goods from the market? Door deliveries are practice everywhere in the world. See it's just our security system. Do research and u would found out that those that killed the Jumia agent are put to bail and are set free!!!

Just imagine someone going to rob a delivery man at the bank or police station.

That is not possible.

Some goods are so big, then the delivery man would be ask to assist in taking the goods inside. remember some people live alone
