Hi guys, I have done a lot of search and sincerely I am confused. I have been driving a Toyota Corolla 2000 Model for about 4 years now and I feel it is time replace the car with an upgrade. Personally, I would have gone for car with my budget, but my wife had begged and insisted that it must be an SUV o.

The search for the SUV is on and I am contemplating between the Nissan Xtrail 2005 Model or the Ford Escape 2003-2005 Model. She does not like the Rav 4(not the 2010-2017 model though ☺)

All I am asking for is a good SUV that is a direct toks with good fuel economy, easy to get replacement parts and the mechanical experts are not hard to find. Of course, it should fall within my price range of #2M. Please advice a brother.

2003-2006 Honda CR-V should do. A 2001/2 foreign used Toyota highlander woulda been possible pre Buhari. The locally used ones can still be sourced though.

Although, it was the 97-2000 model, it when I sat in the car I started falling in love with it the more. And that when i discovered RX330 although being a newer and more beautiful car was a car which Lexus really cut corners to build.

The leathers in RX300 was softer, plusher, more comfier, the car stands taller and the audio system was either pioneer or nakamichi audio. The pioneer was base system yet, it offered a subwoofer under the front passengers seat which produced great sounds, bringing the nakamichi took the car to another level.

Comparing with my RX330's base pioneer system with NO SINGLE subwoofer I feel I was ripped off.

Ball joint keh, the CRV should be second generation 2002 to 2006, I have never seen that one with ball joint problems

The element is just like the CRV too, just another clamshell

The HRV is a bit rear and ran from1999 to 2006 then it stopped till 2016 when it came out again. It is just a Honda civic in CUV form. I have never seen ball joint issues in Honda civic not even once.

Maybe if I did, I would have noticed these features and (just as king.reign) my opinion about the car would change. I like the 'variant' though @ 330

I doubt she would tap into that @highlighted. She should stick to i4s for her city driving. What's with some women and SUVs sef?

This my babe was so excited that she got a 'jeep'. I have another that was bought a Venza as birthday gift, she has one Honda CRV too _but she go dey drag her husband LandRover. The man kuku leave the car for her, start to drive the Venza...hahahaha

The I4 is Toyota harrier which is only made for the JDM, the ones in Nigeria are probably converted.

VVTI (variable valve timing) is just an engine improvement let me use sienna 1st generation as example

The face-lift 1st generation sienna shares engine with the RX300

The difference in stats is much, just because you don't race, that's why you think so, I have challenged a 01-03 sienna with my 2000 and I lost. 17hp if you know the stress car enthusiasts go through just to gain common 5hp in a stock engine you will marvel.

@Mueeze, if you can afford it, follow this advice. You won't regret it. Spacious and rugged but make sure you take care of it. Do ensure it's an EX-L. I've got no regrets with my Pilot.
