Mheen, I just had to create this topic after a long search seeking for valuable information about Postgraduate experience in Futminna. Despite my tireless search, I could not find any info. I am using this opportunity to ask anybody with Firsthand experience, Second hand experience or whatever hand experience how the experience is in Futminna P. G.
How much is the fees?
How is the environment like?
How is the admission process like?
How are the lecturers/lectures like, especially in Food and Industrial Microbiology Unit?
And Whatever questions you feel should be asked/ answered.
Thanks in anticipation.

Are U seeking to know about a PGD Masters or PhD programme? Their fees defer. For a masters programme in Biological sciences, you should be thinking of about 90k for the first session. It could go lower subsequently. Accommodation is an issue, though not peculiar with FUT Minna alone. To get a reasonable place could cost as much as 120k. If u are sharing space, u should talking of about 60k for accommodation. The campus in Boso is a somewhat glorified secondary school, a mixture of outward decency and studiousness. Good food is hard to come by, but if you can and have time to cook your meals, then you can be guaranteed abundant supply of food items at cheap prices. There is generally a good relationship btw PG students and lecturers. Think they would want you to read, do your project and leave as soon as possible. There are deadlines for almost everything, including marking of scripts. Everybody, including the lecturers are working round the clock to meet up with deadlines. ........

Wow, thanks for this.
I am seeking for info about the Masters programme, does the school have hostels for Postgraduate Students?
How is the admission process like?
From what I saw on the website, masters programme is just 18 months. I hope it's true.

Thank you so much.

Yes there is male hostel accommodation for PG. Dont know for females. Fees is around 15k. 18 months is 18 months, depending on you. I prefer the school in terms of compliance with academic duration, to UNN where I did my first degree. They have started sellin PG forms since last month. If you have 2.5 and above with 5 credits in relevant O' level subjects, including English and Maths you can be sure to get admitted into the school.

It seems there is something interesting about the school, but I heard there is no entrance exam involved, how then do they select students without being parochial(i.e maybe selecting Northerners alone).
I guess you lecture there also.

Yes, no entrance exam. If you have good result or able to speak to relevant people in the PG school, you will be admitted. By talking to them I dont mean paying any money, but you need to prove that you are serious and that you will do the programme when admitted. Many people get the admission and disappear into thin air. In some few depts, like Estate Mgt, they like to accommodate those who finished from their school first. A lot of factor come into play, but generally, admission is fair. Dont pay money to any one cos it is not in their character. No, there is no favoritism, to the best of mu knowledge. I dont lecture there. You can get in touch with me for more details

At last, here I am.
I've been looking for a thread like this.

I have submitted an application for m.tech applied mathematics. But I think there should be some kind of confirmation mail to show that the application is acknowledged. Just worried. I need enlightenment please.

Yes, no other info.
since you've paid, it means you have submitted your application.
That is why you have a PG no assigned to you to track your progress.

There's wasn't any serious issue. I did everything on my phone seamlessly except for referees' forms which never delivered to the address submitted. I had to replace some addresses before I could get 2.
I'm still trying to find out the importance attached to pry 6 leaving certificate cos I haven't collected it.
