Mercedes has more prestige, Will your dad be driving the car around much? If its an occasional thing.eg. For sunday church, weddings, etc , benz is okay but the cost of spares are quite high. Have you considered a toyota?

By the way it seems to me [b]Original [/b]Toyota spare parts (not that chinese crap) sometimes even top the Mercedes parts,
but me I live in germany, where u can get Mercedes cars and parts right from the factory.

Please get a Nissan Pathfinder. Apart from the parts, ML320 are Notorious for being unreliable. Please dont let ur dad disown u. Go for the Nissan. Prestigious as Benz? NO. More waaaayyyyy more reliable. And thats what matters.

well as far as i know nissan pathfinder is far more better than benz ml, because thats wat is envogue here in Nigeria and in terms of fuel consumption, maintainance, purshase of parts and on the long run.
so buy wat ur pop can maintain for him which he will appreciate better.

Unfortunately, mercedes is not what it use to be in terms of quality especially from late 90's to about 2005. They are having a lot of problem with quality. On top of the models wt quality issue is the ml320. a lot of benz fans were really disappointed with the car. u drive 4 1month the car is in the shop for 2weeks. terrible. terrible.

I suggest you go to msn.com under "auto" research the model/year u want to buy and read other peoples experinces and opinion on the car. Do the same with pathfinder and let me know your result.

MBZ was SUPPOSED to be better than nissan but the reality is reverse. mercedes has only been chugging along from reputation from old prestige but they are turning around now again.

for my $$ i will stay away from benzes from 1996-2005 especially the entry level of the models ie ml320, c220/280 etc. people reported more problem than usual for those cars even on some s420. since u will be shipping it outside the country, your warranty may not hold.

please get back to me on your findings.

You may want to check edmunds.com. The link above will also give some info. As already suggested, Toyota is not bad at all. I was in a similar situation around this time last year. I went with a Toyota Sequoia. My parents can't be happier! It's been completely trouble free. Of course, the fact that it's was only a 2 year old truck helps too. I was in Lagos a few months ago. The prices those guys charge down are unbelievable! So, as you are already aware, you are definitely better off getting it here in the US.

ML320 any day, it is rugged and more comfy, excellent 2nd and even 3rd hand value. Incomparable with Nissan Pathfinder.

Me also I changed my mind since last week I had the opportunity to drive the latest modell. so if u can afford don't buy n old one. Lokks quite similar, but there are worlds in between, just test drive. In the last test here in Germany the ML even was beating my all-time-favorite, the new facelifted VW-Touareg!

There's no point comparing the Nissan Pathfinder and the ML320. Pls go for the ML320. Benz cars are built to last long and they are definitely more luxurious. The ML320 will surely make ur parents happier.
