When I saw "Oluwo of Iwo....", I knew the person would be a Muslim.
Most (if not all) traditional rulers in Yoruba lands are Muslims.

Just like the FCSC batch A list for the South West was predominantly Muslim names.

Yoruba Chrisians have become second-class citizens in their own lands.

Yet, people in this region pretend like all is well.

Please keep your dirty insinuations off this thread. The penultimate predecessor of the current Oluwo was a Christian. There are also many Christian obas in Yoruba land (by their backgrounds), starting from the most prominent traditional stool in Yoruba land (Ooni of Ife), to Alake of Egba land, Olowu of Owu, Deji of Akure, Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Owa Obokun of Ijesa land, Osemawe of Ondo etc. The immediate past Olubadan was also a Christian. All these are first class obas in Yoruba land and Nigeria, not only in their respective states. There are many others who are not as famous as these but are Christians.

please can u provide your proof that most Yoruba kingdoms are ruled by Muslim kings? I don't know why people like u love to attach religion to everything. From what your comment, it is clear you lack the knowledge on how kings are appointed and installed. kings are appointed from royal families which rotate the kingship irrespective of whether they are Muslim or xtian family. Besides Iwo is predominantly a Muslim town hence a Muslim king. You can't say the same for Ondo state, Ekiti state and some parts in Ogun state where their kings are mostly xtians. Note: the whole of IFE KINGDOM, cradle of Yoruba civilisations is ruled by a xtian king and other xtian sub- kings and BAALEs.
please stop this religious propaganda of yours.

hmmm you've said well though but there are things you don't know about 90% of christians .... Not all christians love going on this type of throne ... Diabolical means are involve and I stand to be corrected on this saying that 95% of all these obas go into rituals and diabolical stuff against while in power and this is totally against God's will... Wetin real Christians wan take am do...don't get me wrong I mean REAL christians so i don't know about other religion ...its well

No injustices here. As a Yoruba, what matters first is your ethnic identity. You can be Christian or Muslim or whatever you want, but that Yoruba identity will still be there. Yoruba don't view everything from a religious angle. Many families are mixed and it's not uncommon to have relative members or close friends who practice a different religion from your own. As a traditional ruler, one of the most important duties is for you to maintain/uphold the traditional culture and institutions irregardless of your religion.

There is no need to fight or create walls between your fellow brethren.
It's all well, no pretend.

i disagree That there are more Muslim Obas than Christian in Yoruba land. Perhaps where stay. there are towns that are predominantly Muslims but ruled by christian king. More so it's not just only one family that is entitled to throne, it's rotational and the CHOSEN ONE(The one presented by each family and endorsed by oracle to b the next king) can't be forced to denounce his faith on the ground that he shares the same faith with late king. lastly YORUBA people enjoy supremacy of love. Whether A Muslim rules or a christian rules. he z a king to his entire territory and not only Muslim faithfuls..

Face your front Mr and don't bring that nonsense here, Yorubas are more intelligent than subscribing to this your divisive stance, lest we forget the foremost traditional ruler in Yoruba nation WAS a christian.

About the employment issue you raised, Yoruba population by religion are almost equally distributed, you can compare the names from Oyo and Ondo state to further educate yourself Mr.

What are you insinuating? Are their people complaining? Is Alake of Egba land and Olowu of Owu not Christians? Go to Ekiti and Ondo states their monarchs are virtually Christians. Are the muslims complaining. Please, don't always put religion in discussion. We southwest live happily with our differences in religion.
