Please house and other car gurus. I need your advice. Am buying a used car, i have seen what i wanted but I need help from experience and/or experts view on the two am choosing from.
The first is Honda Accord 1996 model Popularly called Bulldog. Auto transmission 2.0 engine
The Second is Mazda 626 1997 model aka Booth. Manual transmission 1.8 engine

I have heard series of issues about Honda Leg pull, i have seen a lot of Eod and Bullet pull off. But i havent noticed the bulldog do so

I also hear people saying Mazda 626 engine dont last i.e. They tend to break down and start smoking in no time and you might have to change the whole engine (ringing doesnt solve the problem)

I also saw Honda Halla (1993) but the body seems too old.

Kindly advice me please.

which one should i rather go for in terms of easy maintenance, durability, fuel consumption and taking into consideration that i don't earn much please.

Go with the honda, mind you, leg pullis a a result of negligence on the part of the driver. If i where you, make sure the honda has a clean body, no panel beating or accident repairs.

As soon as you buy it, change the engine with a tokumbor one. Make sure you have a trusted mechanic if possible n if you are in lagos, beg GAZZUZZ to help you.

Change the ball joint n i can guarantee you 3years without issues

But from the pictures i am seeing both cars are not clean except you are getting them really really cheap.

I would have adviced you to go for the mazda because iof its manual transmission, but you already raised a strong point about their engines, which is a fact. Honda is very good, however the leg pull issue ''ball joint'' depends on how attentive you're and the usage of OEM parts. If you stick to tthe usage of OEM, you will enjoy your honda. Its a strong and reliable car.

What are the symptoms?

Honda all the way!!! major issue in bow joint, OEM expensive to get but worth it. I used one academy for a year or so, changed the bow joints every 3months if no signs of possible breakdown in sight.

nb I dunno if its cos I didn't use OEM but the truth is my own academy never gave signs before giving up the legs. ND happened 3 good times, esp wen I cut the steering full. I just stopped cutting full.... even if it means about 5 times of going back and forth to get the desired effect.

my advise.. only use OEM wen servicing suspension and drivetrain parts and u r good to go

kindly remove your tire, uploaf picture of your hob, also check your break pad. Substandard break pads could be the culprit

I bought a tokunbo of that car and used it for about 2years and some months. It was a very sweet car to use. Cool quiet engine, low fuel consumption, cheap parts, responsive ride.
Just make sure you service regularly. If possible don't buy a Nigerian used.
