Sufism In Ilorin ; A Struggle For Survival.. by Nobody: 7:43pm On May 01, 2017
It's no longer news that the people of innovation among the adherents of Suffism have taken over the city of Ilorin in the celebration of the birth of their Sheikh, the pioneer innovator of Africa, Ibrahim Niyas.

Their choice of Ilorin for this historic INNOVATION is not just by chance, as it is obvious to anyone who is familiar with the terrain and trends of events in the ancient city within the last two decades. The last two decades witnessed an unprecedented rejection and abandonment of Suffism and its deviant beliefs by a significant number of Muslims. This is particularly witnessed by clans of great scholars who are the custodians of the Suffi ideology. This is so much that it's no gain saying that there is no such Suffi household in the city except that Allah has raised from their midst influential scholar(s) of Sunnah and countless other students of knowledge.

This trend is naturally sending Suffism in to extinction. Inshaa Allah, an extinction beyond redemption.
Ilorin, which was hitherto an epicentre of Suffism is now being lost to the people of Sunnah upon the manhaj of the pious companions of Allah's Messenger (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
What we are witnessing today is nothing more than a futile attempt to reclaim a lost territory. An attempt to repopularise an ideology that is no longer trending. An attempt to engender Bid'ah and Kufr as a way of life for those who have tasted the sweetness of faith.

Brothers and Sisters, do not despair as it is just a similitude of thunder and its lightening; so much noise but without impact.
I ask Allah, the Lord of magnificent throne to guide them to the prestine Islam. May He also keep us steadfast on the Sunnah of the Prophet as exemplified by the pious predecessors.

The worship of the Sheikh really baffles me.

You hear people say " May Allah accept my prayers for the Sheikh's sake" shocked shocked shocked

Can someone explain Sufism for me in lay terms? Just been reading on it on Google

Sufism..I was once an ardent believer in Sufism.
But now I don't know what I am...
Neither Sunni nor Sufi

Could someone help me with that prayer verse the Prophet recommended for when you feel you are straying away from Allah?

All thanks to Allah, I was once a sufist but now I am back to d track of d prophet.

Op, wat is going on in Ilorin is also going on in okene, kogi state. I used to hate d sunni brothers but now I love dem most. though, I hv not started practicing sunna in full due to family and environmental pressure. my heart fully belongs to the sunni ideology for now and ever.

may Allah guide us all and unite us in jannatul firdaus

Did you have a yearning for Allah from your heart with your sufi background back then? If so stick with it.

Maybe they wanted to compare their experience with what the sahaba i kiram, radiyAllahu anhum, used to experience in the company of the prophet, sallAllahu alaihi wasallam.

However, it is a misfortune not to have kept company of a true sufi who has attained.

Sincerely what you need is to seek knowledge, which starts from knowing Allaah, and you can't know him if you don't read his book carefully......so what you need is seeking knowledge with established proofs and not some extreme blind following which the sufis preach....

Perform your salaah regularly, read the Quran frequently and understand its meanings

As for dua, there are many, one of them can be found in suratul imran(3) verse 8....

Don't let the sufis quoting you drag you to misguidance...

There is no way that you won't belong to a sect either actively or passively because Islam is a religion that can't be practice in isolation, once you meet someone like you saying same thing or a like mind, that a group indirectly besides you observe your solat most especially jummat in a mosque of your choice, indirectly you belong to that group, the most important thing is to find a Sunni congregation (those you certain that they uphold the sunnah) and be align with them whether passively or actively because a day is coming in which you will need the assistance of the ummah.

Lol did I just read this beautiful nonsense shocked funny how OP tried so hard to make it look like there aren't much suffi scholars in Ilorin. Assuming d rate of suffism has reduced in the city, believe me it's not because of the reason u are thinking, it's not because people are accepting the wahhabiyat way. It's actually because Muslims and Muslim scholars are now deviating from Islam as whole by their acts. U see d first son of a when known scholar in club, clubbing his life away, banging almost the female Muslims that go to mosque or madradat. Pls tell me how that one will rightfully inherit his father's place. Most of them are like that.
And as for the recent mawlid of shaikh Ibrahim Anyas, a very moderate suffi will condemn it for the obvious reasons. You see the way u twisted the reason why Ilorin was chosen, we both know Ilorin has it historical connection with suffi, doing this in Ilorin is simply an act to "continue what our suffi fathers started".
Statistics of people residing in Ilorin: 20% are Christians(and they increasingly growing in numbers) 10% are Atheists and traditionists, 70% are Muslims(20% don't even know what Islam is all about-muslims by name- 20% are the average Muslims whose lifes are suffi inspired 20% are Muslim scholars whose life's are suffi themed, the salafiyysh hold the 5% while the remaining 5% are people accepting salafiyysh) this statistics is just to being what the Ilorin society looks like to Ur reasoning, d no. Might not be correct.

Thank you brother.
I can't seem to pray again and whenever I'm reading the Holy book,it is mostly with disinterest.
I fear for myself.
But I still very much believe in the Shahadah tho.

As far I believe that There is no God except Allah and Muhammed is His messenger, and I hold fast to the remaining 4 pillars and as well engage in good deed, and I didn't deface Islam in any circumstances, I have no reasons nor rights to badmouth others who does same. Islam is Siroota-l-mustakeem.
