Hi Grammarians and Fellow Nairalanders. I decided to start this thread based on my observation. There are commonly misused words and phrases in this part of the world. I'll start with this: 1. Clap for her. The right expression should be Give her a clap; Give her a round of applause or clap her. Truth is the verb 'clap'does not entertain the preposition 'for'. |

2. Let me partner with you. The right expression is "Let me partner you." When the word 'partner' is used as a verb, there is no need to use a preposition. |

3. Let us practicalise it. The aforesaid statement is not grammatical. There is no such word as 'practicalise'. Let us put it into practice is the ideal statement to make. |
