Nasarawa state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with a Chinese company, BEIDOU Automatic Equipment company for the procurement of equipment for four fertiliser blending plants.

Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Al-Makura, at the signing of the agreement yesterday at the Government House, Lafia, said “The event was the fall out of the visit by Nigerian governors forum to china last month”

Al-Makura added that the Chinese company ranked high in the manufacturing of modular fertilisers blending equipment with different categories of blending plants equipment, and that the state government opted to obtain equipment capable of producing 40 tonnes of fertiliser per hour in order to ensure farmers have access to quality fertilisers at a subsidised rate.

He further informed that the company visit to the state will grant them opportunities to study soil types, texture to enable them determine the suitable fertiliser for quality crop yield.

When the machines are installed, 20 tonnes would be consumed daily in the state while the remaining will be sold to generate revenue for the state, and the plants will be sited in each of the 3 senatorial zones so as to enable farmers across the state have easy access, the Governor intimated.

The company is also set to synergise with the state university towards the establishment of an agricultural institute in the state.

The chairman of BEIDOU Automatic Equipment Company, Jin Chuang, assured the state government of the company’s readiness to assist farmers in order to produce not just crop but also improve production.

Chuang also expressed her joy for the partnership with Nasarawa and noted that the establishment of the plants in the state will go a long in boosting agricultural produce.
