Student business/entrepreneurial activities while on campus has been in existence for a very long time and in virtually all campuses all over the world, from selling of recharge cards, to running a business centers, graphics designing, tailoring, painting among others. It is very interesting that some student even after graduating still continue in this venture on a more larger scale and some got a good job through this means.

In a situation when an undergraduate student start hawking Doughnut inside the university campus leaves everyone who see him questioned to the reason behind this, this same question led to PALITO MEDIA reporter meeting with this young man who prefer to sell Doughnut around the campus than any other business a student can venture into.

Being able to meet with this young man was not so easy as he was always in a hurry like a person who is trying to meet a someone in a particular location, but one evening PALITO MEDIA reporter was able to see him seating down all alone probably because the day has been tedious.

The conversation ensued between PALITO MEDIA reporter and Promise Imobhio

P.M.- What is your name?
PROMISE- My name is Promise Imobhio

P.M.- Where are you from?
PROMISE- Am from Edo State

P.M.- You are in which department and level?
PROMISE- Am a 200L student of Adult Education.

P.M.- Do you have a father and mother?
PROMISE- Yes,I have but they are no longer leaving together and we are 8 in my family.

P.M.- When and why did you start this business?
PROMISE- I started this business about a month ago and I am doing this because it is good, my brother also have a supermarket in Abuja and he his gaining from it, he have started building his own house in Abuja, he currently rent an apartment in the same Abuja and you know how much that's cost, am also in serious need of accommodation and I don't have money and I also need connections to get good job after graduation.

P.M.- How much sales and profit do you make in a
day?
PROMISE- I sell each Doughnut at the rate of #60 and I sell around 30 in a day with that I make a profit of around #300 in a day.

P.M.- Is the profit you make from your sales able to take care of your needs?
PROMISE- It's able to take care of things like recharge card, soap and the likes as I can not just sit down and rely on my brother and parent for all my needs.

P.M.- How did your friends feel when you started this business?
PROMISE- Most of them were encouraging me and some of them feel that what I do is only meant for children, I don't know if this job have age restriction.

P.M.- His the business not affecting your academics?
PROMISE- No.

P.M.- What are the challenges you face doing the course of doing your business?
PROMISE- I do face so many challenges, first day I started this business, then I do sell biscuit before I started selling doughnut, I went to Awolowo Hall to sell, there was a form of stampede because they have just finished writing a test, and all the biscuit I brought which cost about #800 were destroyed before my very on eyes, I was able to take only one, I don't even have the premonition that such thing will happen. Anything you want to do and there is no challenge you will not succeed, when challenges comes you bear the situation because James1vs2 says when you fall into different temptation can't it as joy.

P.M.- Which fellowship do you attend?
PROMISE- I attend Winners.

P.M.- Do you know that the University have a package for people that are financially weak in the form of Work Study Scheme?
PROMISE- Yes I have had about it before but don't believe they will pay me my money after the work because the lecturers are even complaining that they are not yet paid.

P.M.- What do you think about students who engage in fraudulent activities so as to make money?
PROMISE- The money gotten from fraudulent means will one day backfire, it will surely have devastating consequences.

P.M.- Where do you see yourself in 10-years time?
PROMISE - I will not be like this, there was a time I was in secondary school and now am in University, there was even a time I was faced with enormous challenges that make me think I will not get to the university, I was even saying if I am able to get to a polytechnic I will be happy and interestingly am now in the University.

The guy is in a vicious cycle.
The way he talks he won't have a smart phone and may be uniformed about opportunities online.

A hardworking young guy like him can make good things for himself rather than that.
300 naira hardly affords a decent meal nowadays.

I wish I had more than enough, I would have set this guy up.

It's okay shaa.
In God we trust.

See below anyway.
