Nairaland And Out Of Scope Comments. by Nobody: 7:58pm On May 16, 2017
I have noticed something on Nairaland which is that it is practically impossible not to have a high level of out of scope comments on threads. Sometimes, this thing is just hilarious, but it is completely stupid in most cases.

Someone created a thread asking for a drug that can be used to abort, some people started preaching: "OP, put your hands on your head, let me pray for you. The spirit that wants you to sin bla, bla, bla..." Another person said "are you even sure your semen can impregnate a woman?" grin.

Someone would create a thread that Barcelona would beat Liverpool Messi-lessly, someone else would comment "but Barcelona can't beat Kwara United". Another would go like "how then did Anthony Joshua defeat Vitalli Klitscho?" Seriously?!

From the "biko", I stopped paying attention. I know your ilk. Now, stay away if you are embittered.

OK. What about out of point thread?
Re: Nairaland And Out Of Scope Comments. by Nobody: 8:25pm On May 16, 2017
Lol, there's nothing wrong with that though. Not everyone has tunnel vision about things. I see it as a sign of an active mind. What's important is, a few people will give the OP the info or advice he needs amidst of all the side talk.

I must admit, I'm as you described in real life. Someone could be telling me about a car accident they saw, where the wheels came off & were just all over the place. My response: Oh, that's terrible!
Mind moves on & focuses on something else, WHEELS. WHEELS? What does that word remind me of? Oh yeah! The wheels of the bus go round & round, round & round, round & round, all day long!!!!! grin
Day!
Hmmm...I should go visit *insert place* on Christmas DAY. And so on it goes.

I think what you have just said about mind moving on and focusing on something else may be similar to the philosophy known as absurdism. You may need to research on absurdism as it may be of help in one way or the other.

Thanks. I just read up on it but I still can't fully understand it. Can you please explain it to me in layman's terms. From the little I could make sense of, it's something like dark humour or an unusual way of seeing things. Basically, a weird...something. I'm just confused about what it actually is undecided

Absurdism is a philosophy that surmises that we are living in a meaningless and chaotic world in which even communication and actions are meaningless as they are illogical and disjointed. It is also the aim of absurdism, though, that we should embrace the meaninglessness of it all.

You're saying the same thing I read. Now can you please tell me how it relates to what I wrote in my initial post. Perhaps I'll understand it better. Because right now, the definition is a meaningless as the aim of absurdism itself.

The crux of your initial comment is that the mind shifts to something else; the mind goes tangential, leading communication and/or action to be disjointed and somewhat illogical: absurdism. I hope I have related it properly to your initial comment.

Oh OK, now I think I'm getting a grip on it. But let me just add, to the mind of the "absurdist", it all makes sense tongue So in other words, absurdism is making (or trying to make) sense where there is none? Making sense out of nonsense? Is that what it is?

In the absurdist's mind, the nonsense is to be embraced since trying to find purpose disrupts the universe.

Yes. In the mind of the absurdist, it all makes sense, even though humans should continue to seek meaning.

Just when I thought I was getting a hang of it, you complicated it even further by adding "disrupts the universe". I guess I'll never understand it, at least not today. There seems to be a lot to it that I can't fully wrap my head around, right now. Thanks for trying though. Maybe I'm too slow to get it, which is absurd considering that I speak their lingo tongue

Philosophical concepts are slippery, but huge. You can research more on it. But once again, absurdism posits that we are living in a meaningless and chaotic world in which communication and actions are meaningless and disjointed. Yet, we need to embrace the meaninglessness even as we should continue to find meaning. Thank you for the opportunity of the intellectual exchange and/or rhetoric.

No thank you, I learned a new word today! I'll continue to read up on it, until I'm confident enough to discuss it further. It's an interesting...something.
