Here in ijora fish market (biggest fish market in lagos), dealers had turned to deep freezers, as the constant epileptic power supply can't sustain them to run a cold room and it makes no brain to run a cold room which requires a diesel powered generating set. I think u and madam need to come to ijora to learn 1 or 2 thing. Also, i hope una no dey use prepaid meter o, even if it's prepaid meter, there is a certain 1 the yeye power holding called 3/5 face, that runs out ur money in no time. The cold room runs on 3phase (nepa only gives us 2phases max ) Long term plan, buy lots of freezers starting with 2now it will not take 30per of the stock, but plan to get about 6more so I do not have to use that blood sucking coold room unless when necessary electricity has become stable and have a small 8kva petrol powered Gen.

Whatever you do ensure you check the power rating. The wattage of the freezer is very key to the future use of the freezer in Nigeria.

three to four things are key for me when buying a freezer.

1. Power usage is it energy friendly. I will go for a freezer with lower power wattage anytime any day i.e so check out the energy consumption per year.

2. Is the freezer tropicalized.

3. Freezing capacity per 24hrs.

4. Defrost rate per 24 hours.

I have a solar installation so I know what I am talking about.

Power utilization of the freezer is very key to what you wish to achieve. Difficult to get but try to get freezers with power utilization less than 100 watts. That way even with a small generator you can power more freezers. A KILL-A-WATT meter is your friend in this instance.

Hey bro,

It is over one year now, so which freezer did you eventually get?

I am in this dilemma myself now, asides thermocool which has been called the king of freezer.

I searched every in Ikeja axis of Lagos for the HT-319F model all to no avail. Their freezers are also pretty expensive!

Please which other brand is next in line to thermocool in the freezer category? Does Anyone have an experience or positive word on LG chest freezers?

LG is South Korean. I think Haier Thermocool is a Chinese-German brand. However, if you can buy full German Freezer brands, you will end up saving yourself a lot of money in the long run. German Products are built to last, especially Kitchen and Food Appliances.
