One of the myth facing Nigeria presently lies under the umbrella of UNEMPLOYMENT with its daily rapid growth. If we critically observed the genesis of this crisis, we will be forced to asked the following palpitating questions of

1. Who is responsible for unemployment
2. Who is to be blamed for unemployment?
3. What are the contributing factors to unemployment?
4. Is unemployment affected by bad government policies or is unemployment a self afflicted problem? etc

However, my argument will lies on the above subject matter where we have a political ways of blaming unemployment on the graduates themselves with the term "Half baked"! what then do we mean by HALF BAKED and does half baked means more unemployment?

Who is an Half baked?

Half baked graduate according to this author is someone that can't apply the uses of the 8 Parts of Speech in speaking and writing http:// www.nairaland.com/2697943/10-signs-half-baked-graduate

Others explained half baked graduate as the inability of contemporary graduates to perform as expected thenationonlineng.net/whos-to-blame-for-half-baked-graduates/

MY ARGUMENT

Having put forward a common understanding of the word "half baked graduate" can we now conclude that it is the major reasons why unemployment is on the rise in Nigeria? The answer is NO! In 2012 our then Minister of finance made a controversial statement when asked about why unemployment is on the rise in Nigeria, she responded that it was due to too many half baked graduate that cannot write a simple cover letter... www.vanguardngr.com/2012/07/our-graduates-are-not-half-baked/

Recently i also watched with keen interest a popular program on channelstv called "politics today" where Seun Okinbaloye asked a certain APC chieftain why unemployment is growing rapidly under this administration, is response was rather unfortunate and worry some. The APC chieftain claimed the government cannot be blamed because many of our graduates today are not employable. What a cheap excuses for every government!

To start with, where are the available jobs that Nigerians graduates cannot fit in? Is it the manufacturing sector being taken over by churches, where is the textile industry, are the service industry enough today to overwhelm the teeming influx of graduates? What is happening to the oil industry, power sector etc..

Are Nigerian graduate really unemployable as claimed?

If writing good English language is a criteria for performance, then we are wrong and primitive in our thinking. see i once work under a German that cannot write a concise English but communicate effectively with sketch and drawing. This man is an expert that we waste foreign currency to pay them for their expatriate, why didn't we regard them as half baked since they cannot communicate effectively with our robust English language skills. Can we employed a Nigerian that cannot write or communicate effectively in good English language but can as well communicate in sketches or illustration? ofcourse not NOT, the fellow is an half baked or illiterate according to us

Why are Nigerian half baked outshining the baked graduate oversee if they have the opportunity to travel abroad?

Conclusion

The reason why Nigeria will continue to move out of the map of emerging countries is because of our crude ways of handling humans resources. No nation can develop using paper certificate and spoken English but on how we can utilize our human talent. No graduate is unemployable irrespective of how they write, speak or look because humans are already wired to developed themselves in any circumstances. What is being practically done in ABA, WARRI, LAGOS or KANO might take a PhD holder several years to develop if at all they can do it. Half bake is not the reason for unemployment in Nigeria but our perception.
