Atiku Abubakar Reacts To Threats Given To The Igbos In The North by Tonysax(m): 11:24am On Jun 08, 2017
Just few hours after the threat on the Igbos living in the Northern part of the country to vacate thee community before October 1st, 2017. Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to the quit notice issued to Igbos in the north by a coalition of northern youths describing it as a threat to national security.

We earlier reported that a group named, the Coalition of Northern Youths (CNY) on Tuesday, June 6, issued a statement ordering Igbo people in the north to vacate Northern Nigeria within 3 months. It was learnt that the group also urged northern people in the south-eastern part of the country to immediately start moving back to their various states.

The group threatened that from the 1st October, 2017, it will begin to prove to the whole world the north was no longer part of any federal union that should do with the Igbos. Atiku via his official twitter page said the country is too precious and has pressing issues to attend to than the divisive statement of the northern youths. The All Progressives Congress chieftain also criticised an Igbo group that also issued a counter-statement asking Igbos to return to the south east region while also ordering the northerners out of their state.

He wrote on his official Twitter handle: @atiku

Our country is too precious; our problems are too pressing to pander to divisive rhetoric. “The ultimatum issued by a Northern youth coalition to the Igbos to quit the region is provocative, and a grave threat to national security. “The counter response by a South-east group to Northerners is also reckless and thoughtless”.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna state government ordered the immediate arrest of persons who signed a statement ordering Igbos out of northern Nigeria. The state government in a statement issued by Samuel Aruwan, the spokesman to the governor of Kaduna state on Wednesday, June 7, condemned what it described as inciting, hate speech targeted at citizens of Igbo extraction.
