The National Ports Authority has imposed a so-called Cargo Tracking Note (CTN) payment on all cargo, including cars that are imported to Nigeria. My shipping agent notified me that I have to pay $425 per car on top of the over $1100 to ship each car (RORO)! Dealers should take note of this added costs as they provide estimates to potential buyers, particularly preorder buyers. Cheers, J |

Do i have to pay the $425 for vehicles that sailed already? |

Nairalanders, Note the true position. Any cargo you’ve had sail after January 10th, 2010 will require a Cargo Tracking Note in order to release the cargo at destination. The NPA has announced that they will NOT impose any fines or penalties until March 1st, 2010. After such date, any cargo shipped arriving after March 1st, 2010 will be penalized at destination Be informed!

I got same from my shipping agent and i think this is really pathetic. They collect all these money and now the customers will have to pay more money and still the port still used manual stuff for jobs and any little things still congest the ports. |

If this is true, This is pathetic, This is part of the reason why a lot of us dealers ship through Cotonue, And even I use Cotonou a lot more now. $450 is about 68k , That will mean 68k in addition to our quotes for cars, And I suppose that now translates to about 1900 dollars to ship a jeep from USA, Where does is end, Where does all the money the Goverment makes go to?, |

This is ridiculous. I have vehicle on the way to Nigeria already and my shipping agent informed me about this fee, but not sure if i have to make this payment. However, i called the office of Hoegh Autoliners in Texas yesterday, but i was told there is no increase in RO/RO fees yet. I wonder why Nigeria Govt are making things more difficult. |

This is not the best of times for car biz in naija, you mean an additional cost on every car being imported to Nigeria. Even with the cars`prices at this present time, we still witness a lot of ridiculous pricing from some Nairalanders. May God help all of us |
