OVERCOMING TEMPTATION "For It Is Written....." by doomsdayII(m): 6:26pm On Jun 30, 2017
I want to use this opportunity to appreciate everyone here who has chosen to walk with Christ. It's a uphill climb is the bad news but it's ok to note that saints are the ones who fall and rise up again but sinners are the one who fall and remain down. But let's not be discouraged for as far as the east is from the west, so is His mercy for it is written "I've been sent ONLY to the lost sheep of the house of Israel"
I felt in my spirit to post this cos normally, when i listen to the word, study and take notes, i keep for my references but it is to be shared to those who don't know. And even if you do know, nobody is the alpha in God's words. We're all work in progress through the Holy Spirit.
Many Christians quoting the scriptures during prayer sessions either rebuking the devil or his temptations always say "the word of God said in....." however, i was listening to an inspirational speech and learnt how to use "for it is written." Not that the latter is better than the former. It's just a thing of your preferred. Referring to (matt 4: 1-10), Jesus was led by the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil and 3 times, He was tempted....3 different temptations and these are the major temptations anyone can think of. Every other temptations we're experiencing today falls under these 3 temptations Jesus experienced. All we need to do is cross match our temptations to the category where it falls between these 3 and use the word against the devil.
TEMPTATION OF PROVISION: First, who do you look unto to meet your needs? God or men? When you lust, who do you look upon to cure your desires? God or men? When the devil tempted Jesus about turning stones into bread, Jesus replied in (matt 4:4) saying "for it is written that not by bread alone shall man live but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." And with so much assurance, He said in (matt 24:35) "heaven and earth shall pass away but My word shall not pass away" and in (phil 4:19), it is written "and may my God fulfill all your desires according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus" " therefore, seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and every other thing shall be added unto you." (matt6:33). Society has made us today believe God is wasting your time if you're waiting on Him. They tell you that's why He has given you the will to choose and the truth is the will is the only thing heaven and hell dont have power over. The will to say no and yes or follow whosoever you choose to only belong to you alone.

TEMPTATION OF PROTECTION: Most times when people do pray, they want to make sure that God is protecting them. Or how do you know God will protect you? Because it is written. Even when the devil tempted Jesus in (matt 4:6), saying "if you're the son of God, cast yourself down" and he went ahead to even quote from psalm 91 saying "for it is written for He has given charge of you to His angels and they shall take you into their hands, lest you may hurt your foot against a stone." This always sounds shocking when asked how did Jesus know the word of God? Most likely not because He's a spirit or He's the word as written in the book of John but because He laid down His divinity and took on humanity. in (Heb 5:8 ) it says, "and although, certainly He's the son of God, He LEARNED obedience by the things He suffered." So Jesus learned the word of God just as we're learning now. But the question keeps going on how can God learn? He learned because He became human. He learned to walk, talk, build but in His divine self, He spoke and created everything. Jesus definitely studied the scriptures because He prayed, fasted, witnessed, died and even grew in spirit. (Luke 1:80) says ."and the child grew and was strengthened in spirit....." this is talking about John the Baptist but in (Luke 2:40) , it says "and the Child grew and he was strengthened with the fullness of wisdom and the grace of God was with Him." This certainly talks about Jesus Christ and his "spiritual growth". Furthermore, in (Luke 2:46) it says "and it happened that after 3 days, they found Him in the temple sitting in the midst of doctors listening to them and questioning them. He learned also. And in (Luke 2:52) "and Jesus advanced in wisdom and in age and in grace....." Therefore for God's protection, it is written in (Isaiah 52:12, Phil 4:7, 2Thes 3:3).

TEMPTATION OF POWER: Plato once said "the measure of a man is what he does with power." so self explanatory. Nobody owns power because power comes from God as it is written in (Psa 62:11) that "once God has spoken, twice have i heard this that power belongs to God." And He has also given us that power to rebuke and reject the temptations of the devil. This temptation is so huge that it has soiled the world today. When the devil offered the world to God and it's riches in (matt 4:8-9), he already knew God is above all the wealth and treasures of the earth but tried to get Him to be carried away. Who would reject this offer in the today to rule the whole world? not a nation.....the whole world! Everyone is bent on becoming rich and famous ad ca go to the extreme to achieve this when His words in (matt 6:33) is suppose to be our daily mantra. Don't let this earth cost you your faith. Don't get me wrong, earth is good but it is not to be enjoyed because it is written in (Jer 29:11-13) that "for i know the thoughts that i think over you, says the Lord:thoughts of peace and not of afflictions, so that i may give you patience and an end and you shall call upon me, and you shall go forth and you shall pray to me, and I will hear you. You shall seek Me and you will find me when you sought Me with your whole heart." In case you don't realize this, if you honor God with what you have, He will honor you with what He has. Don't seek what He has in His hands, seek His face. When Pilate told Jesus in (John 19:10-11) "don't you know i have the power to crucify you and the power to release you?" Jesus told him that he doesn't have the power over Him except the power was given to him from above. This clearly shows that all power belongs to God. And since that power comes from Him, He has give us that power to overcome the devil and his temptations.
I pray God in his infinite wisdom, love, mercy, and grace gives us the strength and the power required to resist all manners of temptations that will make us fall short of His glory. May we all learn to put God first in everything that we do. Strike our conscience oh God and stir us away from derailing from walking in your righteousness. We all long for You oh God. Draw us nearer to you so that each day passing by will be used to glorify You in Jesus name. Amen
